Dave was my colleague & boss, but really I considered him my friend. I was always pleased to hear when he was coming in town, to "Canadia" as he would say.
Although we didn't get to see each other often, we shared a lot of laughs. He shared with me his comedy scripts and I got to see the talented writer that he was (not surprising).
A few memories...
On one of his visits he decided to pack up a whole dailies system, not because he had to, but because our colleague said he couldn't. He did it, I helped, and we celebrated by sending our colleague a good "fuck you" picture after that haha.
On another visit, we stopped somewhere so he could buy 40$ worth of scratch and wins.....it makes me laugh just thinking about it. I advised him otherwise, but he reassured me "Don't worry, it's monopoly money!" referring to our colourful bills.
When I went to LA, he picked me up every morning. Even though I was a 3 minute walk away from work...and he would always offer to buy me coffee.
These might seem like small things, but I think they show what kind of person he was.
He was kind, generous and really had the best laugh and sense of humour.
Dave was genuine.
I miss my friend.
My heart goes out to all his family and friends.
