I worked with Dave for many years at Fox. We met when he was working upstairs in building 214. We would often meet in the hallway, and he would have me doubled over laughing so hard. It was our time to commiserate, chat about the Red Sox, and shared lots of inside jokes. I had mentioned to him how I always want to hug the penguin topiaries that were outside of our building (hence this photo). So grateful to have know this light beam. His bright spirit lives on in all of us. I sure miss you, dude.
Dave and Kurt celebrating at the end of another season of Lie to Me
Me and Dave at the Arena Marketing Conference in Boston. So fun! He got to come along as my guest, for which he repaid me by hauling a large suitcase home to Raleigh for me so I could fly straight to a family vacation.
We were traveling to Vancouver to set up a show. When I picked him up, there he stood with luggage and Hula Hoops. He had purchased them for his girlfriend and had decided to hand carry them on the plane. He said to me that he would totally understand if I pretended not to know him. The looks we got going through security were priceless. Dave and I traveled to set up shows and laughed non stop. He always manage to take over a room. I will miss my brother.
I was about 6 months pregnant, and had my favorite NYE to date. All the stars aligned. We were in NC. Grant was throwing a party. My brother and sister came. Then icing on the cake - "Couture is in town, too!" We all piled into the mini-van and I drove them to Grant's. Surrounded by some of my best friends, old and new, my husband and my siblings, we rung in the new year with lots of laughs and hugs. :) Pictured here: Me, Dave and Scott (who lived with Grant and me for most of the time we lived together) me and my roomies: Grant, Dave (always at the apartment), me, Nick (Scott's friend who was also always there), and Scott. At the end of 2003, Niles and I found ourselves unemployed. So in January, we borrowed a van from Niles' parents and took off with our dog, Alex. We drove NC-FL-TX-NM-AZ-CA-OR-WA-CO-OH-home (PA). At our stop in LA we stayed with my best friend, Jenn. She organized a party for our LA friends at her friend, Shannon's house. (Since Shannon had a house and everyone else had apartments). We arrived with Jenn a little late. The first guest had already arrived. We walked in and Dave was sitting there, playing video games with Shannon's 10 year old, having a great time. He shared the funny story of knocking on a stranger's door and asking if this was where the party was. We had a cookout, good-times (until the dogs got stuck together and we had to cut the collar off to free them from choking, but otherwise, fun)
Where to even begin in posting memories? .... After Dave moved to LA, I had scheduled my first visit to see him ...maybe '06-'07ish . The plan was to see Dave in LA and have him drive me to Bakersfield to see my Grandparents .. who absolutely loved Dave and were always eager to see him. Dave showed up to meet me curbside at the Burbank Airport, picked me up and said "Do you want to just go to Las Vegas instead?". He already had his packed bag. I'm sure knowing I am always up for Las Vegas, and not wanting me to see his feeble LA accommodations, we headed directly to Las Vegas for a couple days before dropping me off in Bakersfield on his way back to LA.
Dave and I in the NHL Headquarters Stanley Cup Room in NYC 2010
A typical night - meet up with Dave and Grant for dinner, have a lot of fun. This time, Jordan was having a grand time playing ski-ball after dinner with silly Dave. The video is dark but you can still feel the joy! Christmas, 2013
