BISHOP CD BARTLETT TRIBUTE 23rd APRIL 2020
I met this man of God over 30 years ago, when I first saw him I thought my God he would be a good boxer because of his size. I remember the first time I stood beside him and he shook my hand I felt overpowered by his gigantic size of a man.
Over the years we have developed a friendship especially when he became the National Bibleway Sunday School Superintendent. He love coming to Northampton because back then we had a growing and fruitful Sunday school department.
Bartlett as I called him, from my own personal experience, never held any grudges. Often I would call him out of the blue and as soon as he answered the phone, he would burst out laughing and say in that powerful voice of his, “Doctor Green how are you?” I would reply saying “don’t asked me how I am, because you didn’t phone I did”, then the conversation started.
Bishop CD Bartlett was a loving husband, a family man and indeed a man of God.
Vivien, the rib that God took out of your man, he used it to form you and you became his helpmate through God’s divine purpose. For the many years you were married, God used the union in several ways. I will mention two:
1. As his wife, you helped to shape him into the Godly man that he was.
2. As your husband, he also helped to shape you in the Godly woman that you are.
Everything that a man wants in a woman he found it in you. Just to name a few:
He wanted beauty, he found it in you.
He wanted commitment and a homemaker, he found it in you.
He wanted admiration, he found it in you.
He wanted moral virtue, he found it in you.
He wanted someone who he can totally trust, he found it in you.
He wanted someone with a sense of humour, he found it in you.
And he wanted a Godly woman, and he found it in you.
He lived and preached the resurrection of the dead. Now that he is no longer with us, because the Lord has called him home, to us it seems too soon, but to God He sees and knows what lies ahead. He will be greatly missed, but we rest assured in the hope of God’s eternal rest where death will be a thing of the past.
