Barr. Emmanuel Olorunfemi Akpologun

7 juli 1959 - 3 mei 2021

Emmanuel Akpologun, born to Joseph and Ajara Akpologun on 7th July 1959 in the town of Igarra, Edo State. He was an Old boy of Saint Paul's Anglican Grammar School and an Alumnus of the University of Benin from where he obtained BSc in Sociology and Anthropology and later a Bachelor of Law Degree. Until his demise on 3rd May 2021, he was Lawyer and a Principal Assistant Registrar in the University of Benin. He was known for his simplicity and down-to-earth nature. He was an astute Administrator, a man of conviction, a tireless defender of the weak and a lover of God Emmanuel Akpologun was a Christian, and an Elder with Christ Apostolic Church. He lived a life of prayers, faith and hospitality. I first learnt to pray because I heard him praying every night. His sweet soft voice would wake me by 12 midnight with the song "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Oh Thou in Whom my Soul Takes Delight" then he'd minister to the Lord till 3AM. He did that everyday and without instructing me directly, I imbibed the spirit of prayer. He led many to Christ, started more than 14 churches for Christ Apostolic Church, started the CACSA now CACYOF in UNIBEN, raised children who love the Lord and serve Him. Of a truth, though we mourn, we do not so do as them that have no hope. We do not doubt that Dad is with our Lord and saviour today. He loved the Lord and served Him.

CONDOLENCES The strife is o'er the battle done: The victory of life is won: The song of triumph has begun , Alleluia!! I write to condole with all of us on the transition to eternal glory of our Patriarch- Pa Emmanuel Akpologun. Our thoughts are with the Family of Akpologun in particular and CACYOF uniben/ubth in general in this moment of grief. However, we take solace in the fact that Papa's good works speaks eloquently for him so, he joined the Triumphant Saints. Together with others, Pa Akpologun pioneered a fellowship in rebellion to the order of the Management of UNIBEN who sought an unholy merger for all campus Christian groups. That rogue fellowship emerged to become our place of pride today. We remember his righteous obstinacy in the cause of Christ and bless God for his life. We, the Militant Saints should gallantly continue the good fight of faith so that we can also enter into eternal rest at the end of our shift of duty. The Family of Akpologun remains in our prayers that the Lord Almighty grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Ogundare Olalekan. For the ICONS (CACYOF Alumni set of 2013)
