Alan Campbell

16 mei 1949 - 18 juli 2021

Alan Campbell, founder of Campbell's College was a man who cared deeply about his family, his employees and his students. He will be greatly missed, not only by those close to him but also by those in the Governance and Company Secretarial fields who benefited from his knowledge and unique teaching ethos. Alan had a curiosity about the world, culture and people and the ability to listen as well as to teach. We hope you will use this space to share your memories and anecdotes.

I never met Alan, studying remotely, though having spent hours listening to him I did feel like in some ways I knew him, and I was extremely sad to hear of his death. I greatly admired his passion and enthusiasm for the teaching topics and the way he would always bring it home to real life situations. Some anecdotes, I passed the CCA exam in November 2019, 6 weeks after my youngest was born. We found that Alan’s audio bursts were quite soothing for the baby. I told Alan this, his response: “After she learns to walk, enter her for ICSA – it will be buried in her subconscious and we are talking prizes!!.” After November 2020 Strategy and Finance exams I was complaining again. His advice this time: "Stop thinking about it and focus on coping with lockdown, Christmas, family and friends!.... So this is your granddad talking: focus on the new few weeks and enjoying yourself – you owe this to friends and family. Study can come later." Thank you Alan for your perspective, the world is a poorer place without you.
