Kate was a kind, generous thoughtful friend. I have so many lovely memories, from canoeing in Wales, our little holiday in Dunster, to hours of crafting, chatting and planning together. We started work together at Briarwood on the same day 7 years ago. I left work, filled up my car with diesel and then realised I didn't have my wallet! Having met Kate that day but knowing no one in Bristol I called her up and she drove straight over to loan me the money! This sums up Kate's beautiful personality, she was always there for her friends and family. As I tuck up Ellysia in the beautiful blanket that Kate crocheted I feel so sad for the loss and that we'll never see her again. My love and thoughts are with Gill and Cliff at this heartbreaking time. She loved you both so much.
Kate with my daughter Emily at our school music festival. Kate was so kind and thoughtful. She made a lovely blanket for us to use with Emily. Kate worked really hard at our school and we will all miss her x
I hadn't spoken directly with Kath in a while, instead keeping up to date with her many adventures and travels on Facebook and so when thinking of memories of times that I was fortunate to have shared with her I think back to the end of School and Sixth Form. This photo was taken in TIme on one of our groups nights out together.
So many wonderful memories and happy times shared with this amazing lady – I truly cannot believe that she’s no longer with us. We’ve known each other since university and have remained dear friends. I’m so glad that Katherine got to meet our little boy (William) and touch his life in the way she did mine, my husband Kev’s and countless others from all around the world. She was a kind soul with a heart of gold and really would do anything for anyone. She always had a good story (or two!) to tell and I will miss hearing about them and catching up at ‘our usual’ place. Girly and uni gatherings really won’t be the same without her. Katherine knew her own mind and, in recent years, really came into her own, embracing life and the opportunities it brought. She was incredibly close to her family and I can only imagine the heartache they’re feeling at this tragic loss. Hers really was a life undeservedly stolen and far too soon. I know in my heart that she’s now with, and looking after, her much loved Nan and brother. Her fantastic smile is something I will never forget.
Such sad news, my thoughts are with your friends and family. Was so nice to randomly run into you in Cheltenham after our Swansea days xxx
ever the jet setter. Life was a huge adventure for you and I am so happy to have shared in many of the amazing journeys with you. So many Happy memories xx
Kate always had such an infectious smile that still shines through us all. She was completely selfless and often needed reminding to think about herself also. When I arrived at the hospital to see Kate in October she was not sat in bed resting or feeling sorry for herself, instead she was giving another patient a manicure to cheer her up, this is why we all loved you Kate. We have had so many lovely memories over the years, our trip to Switzerland as Guides, Uni, starting our adventure to live in Dubai, going to a fish restaurant where you brought your own cutlery, I'll never forget that moment when you pulled your knife and fork out of your bag! To coffee in Caswell. I'll always be grateful for the time we spent together and being able to call you my beautiful friend. It's such a terrible, terrible loss of such a wonderful person, each time a tear falls or we think of how unfair life is I'll think of your infectious smile. Those we love can never be more than a thought away, For as long as there's a memory they live in our hearts to stay. Never forgotten, Love, Abbie Xxx
My words can't even begin to convey how much you will be missed. You were so caring, thoughtful and inspirational. I already can't believe that I can't pick up the phone and speak to you. I have so many happy memories of you. Meeting you as we both landed in Dubai for our teaching adventure, road trips, concerts, countless dinner dates and seeing your smile everyday as I without fail would go and sit with you for a cuppa everyday at work. This photo is from Dubai Rugby 7's when we were embracing the Hawain theme! You were an amazing teacher and the kids loved you. Everyone who met you loved you and knew how caring you were. You will always shine so bright Kate, they can't ever take that away. I hope you're at peace and I'll always remember the good times xxx
Kath was always the mum of our house share at uni, always looking out for everyone and making sure we were all ok. From letting us cook in her bedroom (as she had a fridge and microwave) as the kitchen was always too dirty, to reading over our dissertation papers and bringing us cups of tea. Kath was always up for trying new things (like sky diving) and I was so happy and proud of her when she went to live in Dubai, as it seemed like such an exciting time! Kath or sometimes Katherine and most recently Kate (as she had so many friends from different parts in her life where each variation of her name had stuck) we're all going to miss you so much, more than you'd know. Our girly meet ups will never be the same without you, but we'll always think of you and remember the special memories we had. Alexis xxx
Kate was one of my first friends when I first moved to Dubai, she was so kind and thoughtful which was a great comfort to me, being so far away from my friends and family. This picture on the left is me and Kate before we both left Dubai this year, we both started and finished our adventure together! Will always have the memories of this special time with her. So saddened to hear this tragic news. But can't help but smile at her beautiful happy face xxx
This was our last day we spent with you and we will always remember you this way with your beautiful, big smile x
As I've been looking through photos of some of the memories Kate and I shared, it's hard to choose just one that celebrates the time that I was lucky enough to know her. Watching mini robots racing on camels, going for early morning sea swims, concerts and road trips are just a few of the adventures we had. One of my favourites though has to be our road trip to Oman. We set off in one of the worst sand storms I've seen, with our main aim for the holiday being to keep our Easter eggs from melting before Easter Sunday! Then, after a night of camping on the beach to try to see turtles before sunrise, we had to be rescued when we got the car stuck in the sand! Kate was such an amazing, caring and positive person. I'll truly miss her but will treasure the memories of the great times that we shared.
