Mike Doyle

May 3, 1954 - May 12, 2021

Mike passed away on Wednesday 12th May after a bravely fought battle with cancer. We are truly heartbroken as we know many others who had the fortune to know and love him will be too. Be it family, friend, work colleague or neighbour, I’m sure there are memories and stories to be told and shared of what an amazing man he was. Please feel free to share the love for Mike on here so that we can keep his memory alive. Sarah xx

I have such fond memories of Mike. When we were growing up we referred to each other as 'my favourite cousin' We did sadly lose touch over a lot of years but miraculously when we saw each other again at a family reunion it was just the same. The same feeling the same gentle boy was now a gentle man in all aspects of the word. When I went with Sue and Teresa to visit the family we fondly now refer to as 'the yorkshires' we spent time all together with Mike declaring he must take his girls to tea so we duly ended up in York having afternoon tea as if we had seen each other only the day before. Mike and Sue came to all the family picnics after that and I spent time at their home just chatting. He was always so conscious of making sure everyone was ok - so thoughtful - just a lovely man. I am grateful he managed to retire and move back up to Yorkshire as he had planned for so long. Its just too cruel that his retirement was too short. His family have been robbed of a special and loving man a true gentleman - the world is a little less lovely now. I shall miss my favourite cousin - I love you Mike x

I met Mike when I was 17 when I became best friends with his little brother. I truly believe Mike helped form my character in the way that people do when you look up to them. I’m going to add more memories, but this one stands out. It was manning the polling station with him when he was trying to get elected as a Councillor. It was a strange day for me and Mike because his Tory incumbent opponent was our ex Headteacher! Mike won....of course he did....who wouldn’t vote for someone as genuine as him? Mr Mulvihill bless him was grace personified. He congratulated Mike, I’d wager with a tiny bit of pride. Then he told me and Mall he’d never enjoyed Election Day so much because of all of us. These were happy days. We were all looking forward with much to look forward to. I feel so lucky to have many.many memories like this to treasure. I will add more soon. Mike, I will truly miss you forever. You could have had no idea, because you were not arrogant, just how many people loved you xxx
