I have so many great memories of my time working with Gail at Knox Private Hospital. We worked hard but we also had so many laughs and good times - Easter parades, reviews, boardroom drinks, Christmas parties … the list goes on. Gail Influenced so many people in their careers. She was dedicated to clinical excellence and teaching new ways of thinking. She added business / value management to the equation. But most importantly she had a great sense of humour and fun. I was so glad to be part of her memorial and to be in touch with you Meaghan. I know she would be so proud of you. Sending much love. Karen

Vale to Gail! Dear Gail, I have great memories of our time at John Fawkner Private Hospital and then Waverley Private Hospital. I was always impressed by your knowledge and strong leadership. You were generous in your mentoring of others and encouraged us to be innovative and push the boundaries. You weren't afraid to say it like it was, but you were also fair, supportive and lots of fun! You had many loyal followers and always loved to catch up for a nice brunch / lunch out. Sadly I didn't do as many of these with you as I would have liked. Thanks Gail for helping me get to where I am in my career today. You have left us too suddenly and too early and you will be greatly missed. Jo (Jo-Anne Thompson)

I had the pleasure of working closely with Gail at Glenferrie for 10 years as her EA. During this time she touched all of our lives with her generosity and words of wisdom. Gail liked to have a good time and never hesitated to have a laugh at herself! I recall helping her to make many costumes for Ramsay Conferences; she always got right into the spirit of the occasion and had a great imagination! She also loved a good recipe, and we collected many over the years. Taken too soon, she will live on in our our hearts forever.

Throughout our lives, from childhood through to adulthood, Gail has been an ever-present part of our family. We have always considered her an aunty, someone we could talk to, confide in and laugh with. Over the last ten years she stepped into another role, a grandmother to Lawson, spoiling him (in the same way she did with us) whenever she saw him. I’m always going to associate Kinder Surprises with Gail as she would bring him one, two… or three of them when she visited. I have so many wonderful memories of Gail and will be forever grateful that she was a part of our lives. We love and miss you xxx

To my special friend Gail What a fun ride we had since meeting at Northpark Hospital over 45 years ago. First as a friend and then a boss. Thanking you for coming into my life when you did. You helped me become the nurse I am today. We had some special adventures together most special our trip to Bali in 1988 with your 11 old daughter Meaghan, many trips out of town on our days off to local wineries, yearly snow trips. and kicking our heels up sat night at Bundoora Hotel and walking home to your place that's where you fed me most weekends. Thanks Meaghan for your bed when you visited your dad David. I followed your amazing career and loved all the many catch ups with the gang from NorthPark. How do I thank you for giving me 5 months off work to travel to Europe in 1986 and come back to my job working for you. There would be none of that these day. Glad you ended up with a relaxing job that you loved and enjoyed retirement like only you can do. The last 8 years got away from us but had fun keeping in touch with our Facebook posts. I'm going to miss you. Always in my thoughts and thank you for being my friend. Till we meet again Cheers to you x

From Catherine Willmott Gail Our supreme commander was a visionary, an entrepreneur and a great mentor to me. We worked together at three different hospitals during our careers, in different roles and she was held in the highest regard by her colleagues where ever she worked She had the most amazingly ideas to encourage staff to grow. Introducing a Graduate Nurse program . A public speaking course The unit Managers program . The JFK Gala review . And Introducing the Collaborative Care Nursing Model . To name just a few of her wonderful ideas and initiatives She was fair, she was strong , she was courageous , she was fun and she was always respected. When I think of Gail now , I see her speeding across the stage with Ollie the Occupation and Safety Manager at the GFH Review An accident waiting to happen.!!! We were often discovered having a sneaky ciggy at the back of the JFH chapel. We will all miss her. Till we meet again Catherine

One of my earliest memories is of you Gail. It is a beach in summer. I remember the sand and the water, people on towels, smells of sunscreen and aerogard and I remember you. It was probably the shock from a crab biting my toe that kept my memory strong and vivid. I remember you laughing at me and I remember you comforting me. You probably called me a silly duffer. You were always there when we were growing up Gail. You and Megs. You were such a good aunt, such a spoiler. Every year on our birthdays you would give us the most extravagant gifts. Usually fancy “label” clothing. I always felt completely spoilt by your gifts, but only now as an adult can I really appreciate the time and thoughtful consideration you put into choosing every one of those gifts. I have a million memories of you Gail, every single one a good memory. Weekend picnics, afternoon coffees, family Christmases and so much more. I treasure them all. I love you and I miss you. Becc

She was still doing this for me as an adult, Someone I felt I could always talk to. Our conversation was always private and would never be repeated, except to Megsy I think but that was to be expected. Most of our messenger conversations were funny stupid animal jokes or clips. Perfect way to light up your day with a giggle. When I think of Gail, I think of the love of life… The only true love of hers… Meaghan.

When I think of Gail I think of such a amazing, loving, generous woman with a hilarious, little bit bent sense of humour! (My favourite humour of all!) I’m so bad at remembering particular memories but when I think back on my whole life, that I remember anyway, Gail was always there for me. She took me under her wing along with Katie and Becc and treated us as we were her own. Every time I stayed with Gail and Megsy, Gail would shower us with gifts of hilarity, love, compliments, delicious food, drinks, videos, take us clothes shopping, even trips away from Melbourne. I remember my first time riding in a limousine and feeling like we were the richest people in the world! Probably the first and last time I ever did that. Whenever I was upset about anything Gail would sit quietly and listen to me, support me fully and then give me her wisdom and advice… It meant a lot to a young girl I can tell you now. Then after all that she’d think of something hilarious or crazy and mostly rude to cheer me up, which would always work.
