I was a CF at FIT, and got the privilege of spending a lot of time with Erica. There was this one time we were watching 'Call me by your name' for one of the international movie nights and I remember being so nervous about watching the infamous 'peach scene' with Erica who was our boss! I remember some of the other CFs even prepping her for the scene and everything but when the scene in the movie actually came on, there was no discomfort in the air - Erica was just watching and enjoying just like the rest of us! We even had a movie discussion afterwards where we talked about that very scene and conversation flowed very naturally and comfortably. That was her superpower - she was very approachable and easy to talk to! She was really always there to talk to and offer support to students. I remember how passionate she was about helping international students and putting them first always. I dearly miss Erica, she was a real angel among us.

Since we firstly met in Japan, we had been keeping in touch as a friend. After I've got an opportunity to study at FIT, Erika always supported me not only to get VISA smoothly but to make FIT life comfortable. I also appreciate that she elected me as a representative of international student for a conference. I never forget the memory we spent together, memory of sending email/letter, having dinner at Japanese restaurant and gifts we sent each other. Erika, you are great person and my special friend in NY. I'm proud of you! I regret I couldn't do any for you, wish you are rest in peace. Xoxoxo -Yui Yasuda

Erika was the kindest there could be, she helped me vigorously and gave me undivided attention to submit my CPT form. From the little, I knew her I can just remember how sweet and welcoming she was always, even when writing an email. She will stay my memory from my days at FIT forever! Condolences and my deepest desire for peace and wisdom in these hard times for her beloved people who are walking through this time.

I am an international student and i can never forget the way she was there to help me with my visa process. She was always there to support me with encouraging words when I failed to get the student Visa in first two attempts. And i could tell the happiness from from her mail when she got to know that I finally got my visa. She was always warm and kind and ready to help with all my concerns. I'll miss her. May her soul rest in peace and my condolences to the family. -Bhawika

Erika was an angel for all the international students at FIT. She always helped me and answered all my questions very thoroughly. Being the president of the Indian cultural Society me and Erika planned a lot of events in college and we use to have fun together too. She use to enjoy the life at its full. I am very heartbroken and sad to hear about her and I am sure she is at a better place now. Her ideas, thoughts, her inspiring and confident nature will always be remembered. I will miss you. Thank you for what all you did for everyone. Rest in peace

I got a lot of help from Erika. It went back to 2013. I had visa issue at that time. I wrote to her and she helped a lot. Later I didn't came to FIT due to late visa issue. She helped me to inform registrar to postpone my study for one year. Another big favor from her was happened last year when I couldn't attend Parsons master degree program. She helped me to register for FIT FBM 1 year program within 3 days to save my student status. I can not say by words how gratefulness I felt. Still remember one year she gave us free tickets to visit The Dessoff Choirs. I was so impressive to the performance. She showed her enthusiasm to both her job and life. Always be kind and helpful. She is so special can never be forgotten. Thank you to God to give me the happy time with Erika ever.

Erika has been such a big help to me as an international student. I met a lot throughout my year at FIT, and she had always been the kindest and most patient in helping me and my friends figure things out. I emailed her in January 2021 wanting to share with her the good news of my visa but it did not went through.. Now I know why and I hope she is in a better place ❤️ Thank you Erika for all that you have done to help students like me who are far from home.
