Mr Niulala has been on my mind so many times over the years. I had been wanting to reach out for some time but haven’t been able to find a contact online. My name is Nicole and Mr Niulala came to my primary school in Scotland for a year when I was 10. We grew up in pretty rough area were a lot of people assumed we wouldn’t make much of ourselves but Mr Niulala was the first teacher who really believed in us and spoke so much truth over our life’s. He impacted our year group so so much! Personally is still sing the worship songs he taught us and the tiny seed he sowed during that year. He showed us Gods love in most incredible unconditional love way. As a teenager I became a Christian myself and I’m now 33 with a husband and beautiful 4 year old daughter and I now sing those songs to her that he taught us. I’m so sad to hear of his passing and send my love and prayers to his family. I hope this reaches your family Mr Niulala as an encouragement of how wide and far an impact your still having on people to this day. “You are Holy, Holy. Lord there is none like you. You are Holy, Holy. Glory to you alone. I sing your praises forever. Deeper in love with you. Here in your courts where I’m close to your throne. I found where I belong” Song by Suli Niulala-

Dear Suli, I have often heard people speak of teachers that had an impact on their lives when being interviewed about their success. While I did not have this experience personally, my son Michael certainly did in you. Others have highlighted your generosity, compassion and the ability to make each boy feel they were valued and recognised. One of the many memories I have is Mothers Day celebrations at Lewisham when mothers and grandmothers joined the class. Every mother/grandmother was made welcome, and had the opportunity to enjoy the singing and some great dance moves. What has always stayed with me was your discussion of your mother and what an important a figure she had been in your life, and the discussion with the boys on family. I recall the boys listening intently - and several getting up and hugging their mums that morning. There are so many things that come to mind when I think of you Suli- that smile -always there, your genuine interest in everyone and your amazing memory for each boy your taught, Throughout high school you stayed in touch with Michael, always asking how he as going with a genuine interest in his progress, dreams and goals for the future. And continued to do so even in most recent weeks. Authenticity is not an easy thing to see, but it is a word that seems to describe you in many ways. There are so many lives you have touched - that have benefited from knowing you, being taught or coached by you. While you left us way too soon, you have gifted the world with three beautiful young people that will make you proud and many will keep a watch over. Deepest sympathies to Debbie, Sam, Luke and Zoe. Don't ever hesitate to reach out if in need Kate, Peter and Michael

Dear Suli, I wanted you to know how special we think you are, and what an extraordinary impact you made on both of our sons, Darcy & Angus, during their time at Trinity. When Angus started at Lewisham as a 5 year old, I knew immediately that his life would be different from that day onward and you continued to be a strong role model for him throughout his schooling. You showed all those little boys what it meant to be a strong and gentle, caring and compassionate man in this modern world, and they have been influenced by that ever since. We thank you for all that you are, and all that you’ve done for our boys, and we keep you and your beautiful family in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace. From the Brockel family.

Mr Niulala, what a profound sense of loss we feel knowing you are no longer here with us. You embraced Balan and our family this year, you showed us so much grace, warmth, love and support. You nurtured Balan, showed up for him, stood up for him and cared for him. What an amazing example you set every day- with your gentleness, humility, selflessness and tremendous spirit. We were always welcomed by you with a huge smile, a kind word and embrace. You made us feel so at ease, your calm and humble nature comforted us at all times but especially when the boys left for camp. We are all so much better for knowing you, how lucky we are to have been in your presence throughout this year, you taught us so much and we are grateful for the memories. We will never forget you, our hearts are broken and we are deeply saddened for your beautiful wife and children. The sense of disbelief, unfairness and finality of your passing is hard to bear. We fondly remember your infectious laugh, beautiful singing and vivacious energy that brought everyone together. Rest in Peace Mr Niulala, you were an incredible blessing to us all, you’ve left a wonderful legacy through your inspirational life. We will miss you enormously ♥️ Love, The Govender Family
