Robert Slavin

September 17, 1950 - April 24, 2021

Dr. Slavin, affectionately known as Bob to all who worked with him, was fully committed to improving public education one student, one classroom, one school at time, as was demonstrated by his life’s work. In every conversation, in every writing, his passion for the mission of educational reform and evidence based learning was apparent. We have lost a great friend and visionary and the world of education has lost a leader whose impact will continue for decades to come.

When good, kind people are taken too soon, it doesn’t quite seem real or right. Bob was a genuinely honest and humble advocate for quality education for all students. I am so saddened by this loss and offer my deepest condolences to Nancy, the family and all of those who knew Bob. He always had a kind word to say and was never too busy to chat about the projects we worked on. I know we will all miss his conversation and the intelligent, sometimes humorous, insights Bob shared. Rest in peace, dear friend, and know that your legacy will live on.
