Patrick Walker

February 2, 1965 - September 17, 2020

Patrick, Pat or Paddy as he was known to his many friends and family loved life and lived it to the full everyday with his motto being 'Carpe Diem' or 'Seize the Day'. He embraced all the challenges of life thrown his way and pursued his dreams passionately. He loved helping others to fulfil their dreams too. His smile lit up the room where ever he went and his kindness knew no bounds. We will all miss him but remember him with love.

A year has gone by and there has not been one day that I haven't thought about you and missed you Pat. I can still hear the sound of your voice and in particular your laughter when I think of you. I still marvel at how you dealt with all life threw at you and how you always focused on the positive things in life whilst pursuing your dreams...our dreams. I am so blessed to have had the time I did with you even though we always said we wished we had met earlier. I will never stop loving you Pat You may no longer be here next to me in the physical world but you are deep within my heart and soul my love xxx

The day that God called your name, it broke my heart in two. But heaven needed an angel and the one he picked was you. I just wish he could have waited and let you stay with me. But you have left memories in my heart and that's where they will always be. I just wish I could rewind the clock, or make it turn so slow. I could have hugged you one more time before you had to go. No matter how much time will pass, I'll miss you every day. Keeping shining bright in heaven my love, so you can light my way. xxx

Today would have been Pat's 56th Birthday. How sad that he isn't here with us to celebrate another year of his amazing life. I still can't believe he has gone from this world but pray that there is something beyond this life and that we will be back together again as husband and wife one day in the future. Until then Pat, I will carry on loving you as I have since that first day we met. I know you liked poetry so this is a short poem especially for you my love. 'Wishing you were here today, for even just a while So I could say Happy Birthday and see your loving smile. The only gifts today will be, the sweet memories you left behind of laughter joy and happiness, that echo on in my mind. I'll gaze upon your picture, I'll think of you with love And hope you're doing fine, in heaven up above. May our friends and family in heaven, hold you closely and sing you a song And I'll be sending all my love to you, today and all year long. Love you more than words can express 'My Pad'. Until we meet again my love. Sal x and Samson

I met Patrick many years ago when we were working together at Trafford General. We soon became friends and when I organised a monthly Friday night out, Patrick was always there. Pat wouldn’t hesitate to offer his services when you needed a favour, and would only let you pay him in chocolate cake or sweets! He helped my Dawn move house and picked furniture up for her. When Sophie was at school and needed a placement in physio, Patrick sorted this out for her with a friend of his. When Lauren found out she had to have surgery, Patrick not only sorted out the appointment, but made sure he was there for her on the day. When Lisa had a birthday meal, Patrick and Sally were there, enjoying the celebrations with her. Nothing was too much trouble. He was everyone’s friend. When I arranged my 50th birthday party in a villa in Spain, it went without saying that Patrick and Sally were on the guest list. Every time I held one of my cocktail nights, Patrick and Sally were here. Patrick loved my hot pot so I would make extra so he could take some home. Patrick became friends with my sisters while we were in Spain, and would love sitting and chatting with them when we had a get together. He was so interested in others lives, and never once complained about anything. Billy became very fond of Patrick. When he was in a band, Patrick would make every effort to come and support him. Patrick was part of our gang, all built on loyalty and true friendship. Patrick, I will miss you till the end of time. You were a beautiful person inside and out. You and Sally were a perfect couple who were always welcome in our lives. Sally will continue to be part of our lives and your memory will live on, that’s a promise. Rest easy my friend xx

Pat, Tom McDonald and Maxine Harrington on another night out , again not sure on the occasion. Something that always made me giggle was when Pat talked about his days of bell ringing in a church. It was just another thing Pat decided he wanted to learn so went out and did it.

Myself and Pat, cannot remember the occasion but went out a few times on a Friday with Pat and Paul Harrington. Of course Pat would be driving and took us all over Manchester, and it didn't matter what bar or pub we went and where it was , everyone in the place seemed to know Pat. I would be surprised if there was anybody who didn't know him, he was just that sort of person, extremely friendly and loved people and finding out about them.

I had the privilege of working with Patrick at St Mary’s. His huge smile was contagious and he always wore his heart on his sleeve. Sally he always thought of you and was always looking for small gifts from my Avon book. Patrick always saw the best in people and would go out of his way to help others. He was a true gentleman. Patrick I will miss you. Sending lots of condolences to you all. Lisa x

A group of us went on holiday together (if I can call it together) to Magaluf in 1990. 1st to leave Stretford me & my bro Jon, next Bazo Walshy, next Pat, then Mags. All different days. In 1990 it was hard to get the flights & harder to get accommodation. Me & Jon luckily found us a 6 bed palace (not). Day by day the others arrived. As time went on so did a lot of other guests who couldn't find accommodation in Magaluf. One night I counted twenty guests in our room. I will hopefully attach some very old photos (as I thought I was doing candid camera) to these memories to show some sleeping arrangements (but i'm useless with technology) & some very fashionable attire. How Pat as a non drinker put up with everything shows testament to his character. The holiday was crazy. Pat never came on another summer holiday with us. We stopped going out so much as we turned the millennium for different reasons but still met up as often as we could.

I bumped into Pat many years after our only holiday together whilst on a skiing holiday in Pamporova, Bulgaria. We were staying in the same hotel & none of us had a clue. I reminded him of our last holiday together. I didn't see much of him after that (not really we saw each other loads). I bumped into Pat on another few surprise unarranged occasions. He worked in Trafford general operations theatre. His eyesight wasn't great. I shouted him & kept shouting him. He looked everywhere to find where the voice was coming from apart from on the operation table where I was positioned. We were all killing ourselves in there and so was he when he saw me with my micky mouse boxer shorts on. He came to see me after I was coming around from the operation and had the last laugh. He said I had been chatting the nurses up in my drugged up state and he'd been telling them about my micky mouse boxer shorts. A very similar thing happened years later but I had my donald duck boxer shorts on. Pats sense of humour was amazing. We had a lot of great laughs.

I first met Pat in 1980 when I joined Lostock school as a first year pupil. Pat was in the fifth year. The school seemed huge & I was lost. Most walked by me & left me searching for my new classroom. Pat stopped & walked me to my classroom. Top lad. I used to see Pat quite a bit around the school after that. Pat left the school the year after. I still used to see Pat every now and then around the Stretford area. I bumped into Pat around five years later with older friends of mine. I used frequent local pubs & clubs when I was sixteen and knew a lot of people of varied ages. Pat was to become one of a group of my friends from around 1985. There were lots of laughs and great times to follow.

Hi Sally. I was so shocked & still am, when you told me that Pat had passed. He had not long since text to say he was OK & recovering slow but sure. I have known Patrick since I was 14yrs old (40yrs). He went to school with my long time friends brother Falah who also sadly passed 01/07/19. I have happy memories of them playing space invaders and "going like the clappers" down Moss Park Rd on go-carts. Also many many memories of our 20's when out socialising. Then meeting again in our 30's when I was a mature student nurse at TGH. I was thrilled to bump into Pat again about 4 years ago in Sale and we had kept occasional contact ever since. He had not changed one bit. Still the great person he always was with a killer smile and kindness beaming from his every pore. A class act. Considerate, caring, fun & genuinely interested in other people. He was one of life's genuine good people. He was a rare diamond. I read a quote last week that I would like to share. "The brightest stars burn out faster but they are the most beautiful." I can't say goodbye, I will just say goodnight or see you later my beautiful friend. See you tomorrow in my memories. He will remain in so many peoples memories Sally because he was so well thought of and loved by so many. I will phone you next month to find out where he lays, so I can go and pay my respects. My thoughts are with you in the huge loss of your husband and my long time friend xxxx

Hawaii 50 party in spain 2011. We all had to wear the most outrageous party outfits. Needless to say patrick won. I met patrick about 12 years ago through my wife sharon. We bacame good friends and when he visited he would always bring a gift. One time he turned up with a picture of a fender guitar neck rising out of the water being lit by the moon. He said he found it in one of his houses and thought of us..it has been framed and hanging on our wall ever since. He also turned up with a little pugs head for sharon. It turned out to be a speaker which we now use all the time. As he was leaving he said its name was dave, who were we to argue. He also helped both my daughters in different ways. He was a very special friend who is going to be impossible to replace. Gonna miss you patrick Billy x

I first met Pat on a skiing holiday many years ago and became friends ever since, he was such a great guy with an infectious smile, we had many a good skiing/snow boarding holidays and I will always treasure those moments. One time Patrick came to my rescue I was at the bottom of one side of the mountain going to get on a chair lift and they were checking ski passes and when I showed them mine and asked my name the pass was some body else’s so he wouldn’t give it back to me. The Crystal ski rep had given me the wrong pass which I didn’t check so I was stuck so I rang Patrick and lookerly he was on his way to were I was with his snow boarding instructor so he managed to convince the instructor to get the chair lift guy to give it back to me which he did so I could carry on skiing. That was Patrick all over always willing to help and such a kind man I will sadly miss him. This is a photo of Pat and me on a chair lift on our last holiday before he became ill as you can see this is how I will remember him having fun and laughing together. RIP Patrick

I have had many conversations with Patrick that have bounced around all topics, piano playing, caravan, house developments, dogs finding new homes with him and Sally, fitness regimes, job moves, but one that sticks out is the delight in finding that instead of steaming a tinned pudding for 2 hours, you could microwave it, in just 2 minutes! This was truly a taste of the future.

I acquired Patrick as a friend when splitting from an old boyfriend; I think I did better out of the deal. He came to my rescue on more occasions than I care to remember, usually to move furniture with a van - including his little red one that he used for his sunbed business. The only payment he would take was a meal, even if it was only from Country Grill. We did so well with the last one, we even considered going into business together- Lift-It & Shove-It! Patrick dropped everything that day to help me, including finding a van from his magician friend, after a panicked call at 9 am. The man was a miracle worker.

Patrick, Pat or Paddy , whatever you preferred to call him was genuinely the most popular person i know. He was always 'Paddy' to me , we grew up together in Bradwell avenue and have a lifetime of memories , the street games we used to play , the bonfires we built (we even took Mike Morgan's back door for the bonfire when his Dad removed it just to paint) , building our brilliant den in his back garden , making and racing boggies (go karts), playing on Lostock park , watching his Dad sawing a branch off his tree when he was sat on the very same branch he was sawing (and Paddy didn't even tell him) , sat in his back garden with his Dad telling us stories about his plantation in Jamiaca while slicing pieces of mango for us (which was quite exotic at the time) his wonderful Mum walking up the street with her shopping bags , his Dad driving all the way off the estate in 1st gear!!. always the fittest and fastest , no one could beat Paddy back to the lamp post at hide and seek. He was a bit shy in the earlier days but became so confident and outgoing as he got older , when most people needed some alcohol to start enjoying themselves Paddy was the life and soul of the party without ever touching a drop , he was intoxicated on life. His brilliant laugh and smile brightened up everyones day ,whether you bumped into him in Stretford precinct or he visited you in hospital on one of his breaks as an anaesthetist , he left everyone feeling happier. In more recent years i've had the pleasure of socialising with him and his lovely wife Sally at their house and when they visited us at Silverdale and at sadder occasions like funerals of neighbours and family where he would always turn up to pay his respects and share his memories, i'm sure if restrictions allowed there would be hundreds turning up to his funeral to pay respects to an absolute Legend, gonna really miss you Paddy ,R.I.P. my good friend. xxx
