Sharon, affectionately known as 'Meemers', passed away suddenly at 83 years of age. Everyone loved her for her bubbly personality, enthusiasm and love for her family. Nothing meant more to her than spending time with her 5 children - their spouses, her 13 grandchildren - their spouses, 6 great-grandchildren and her beloved husband 'Waltiz'. For 27 years Walt's love carried her higher than any mountain top and we all thank him for treating her like a queen every day they were together. She will be missed but we will always remember her smiling face light up when she saw us. We are planning a Celebration of Life when gatherings are safe again and will post details as they unfold. She had such a wide circle of friends from past students, long time girlfriends, church family and extended family. In the mean time we invite you to share your favorite memories of her. Rest in Peace Mighty Meemers.

Mom had a special hand gesture that became her trademark and a common way of communication . Not sure how it started but I know that it means that our beloved Meemers ricocheted into the loving hands of God where she will remain for eternity. As she always wanted " The legacy continues" here on Earth. Her family and close circle of friends meant everything to her. The most memorable trait I hope to carry with me that I witnessed in her is resiliency in life. Whatever life presented, she had the ability to persevere, and rise above her circumstances to find the good out of experiences. I'm really proud of her deciding to change the course of her life in her mid 50's and return to TCU and earn her Masters degree. She was never bitter, and always saw the best in people. She loved to be the life of the party and center of attention but she also returned that attention and affection to all she loved. She gave 110% to raising our family but also taught us to be independent and to think for ourselves. She provided a safe environment in which to grow and become adults and parents ourselves. Your legacy will live on in all of us for generations to come. Somehow I really believe that although we start our days on earth now without you, you are not far away, you remain in every heart you touched, which was many.

I remember feeling like the most special person in the room when I was around Sharon. Her loving smile and positivity made every interaction with her wonderful. My teenage memories is Sharon seem like they all have her in the kitchen. Which is probably very likely the way it was! Even with the chaos of 5 of her own, she seemed to enjoy all of us that showed up and made ourselves at home with her. I honestly don’t ever remember seeing her mad. And I know Michelle and I gave her some reasons to be mad! I’m sorry I didn’t hug her a little harder the last time I saw her, or talked with her a little longer. I will truly miss any Nolan Gamblin event without her loving presence. I am thankful to have been included so many times into the wonderful family that is because of her. Rest In Peace beautiful Sharon.

Initially, I was introduced to her via a conference call while on a college tour in NYC with my son. Mike was in NJ on business, and I was speaking with him and he conferenced Sharon in the call. I remember her voice was so sweet and kind. She was happy to speak to me then, and long after Mike and I married. Sharon always treated me with love and respect and always gave me the best advice. She went out of her way to visit Mike and me in Atlanta, attended our wedding, and came for Brooke's graduation, as well as a beach trip to Destin. She loved all of her family, and I am blessed to be a part of that. She loved visiting this country store in Canton, GA on a recent trip to GA, and loved these flowers. I call them Meemer flowers. She loved the colors...enjoy them now Meemers, anytime you want! Love you forever!

I first met Sharon when I transferred to 4th grade at Miller Elementary. While Sharon had not been teaching long, she had a wealth of knowledge from raising all of her children. She was everyone’s second mom giving us all advice when we asked. I remember when she first met Walt and how she would light up when she talked about him. They absolutely adored each other. I also remember her telling stories about her children and grandchildren. She so deeply loved each one of them. The days teaching with Sharon are some that I treasure and will truly never forget.

From the moment I met Sharon, she welcomed me with open arms. She was always loving to me and made me feel like part of the family. I truly believe that she loved me as one of her daughters and not just a daughter-in-law. I will be forever grateful for her love, acceptance, and generosity. After all, she not only raised Joe to be a great man, but she also let me wear her wedding dress when Joe and I got married. I would say that her greatest quality was how she loved everyone in her family unconditionally and felt such pride in each child’s, grandchild’s, and great grandchild’s accomplishments. We will miss you Mema. May we always remember to love as generously as you did.

I too remember Sharon as the cheerful person, often in the background, actually making things happen. She loved her family and family gatherings. Sharon had a love of life that I think she passed on to all of her children. Sending the family love and hugs.

During our New Jersey days when I was between 9 and 15 I always remember Mom in our family room folding laundry and ironing while Price is Right or Young & the Restless soap opera was on. Especially in the summers when we would come running from the pool, all wet looking for a beach towel to dry off. Moving on the Texas years starting in 1977, I'll never forget all of us teenagers and the chaos of mornings before school. We still laugh about all of us special ordering our breakfast, while the ironing board (set up in kitchen) so she could iron the shirts we picked out for the day. Can you imagine the tornado swirling every morning and how peaceful it must have been when we all left?

So sorry to hear this news, my thoughts are with family during this difficult time. My memory of Sharon is when she hosted a family reunion at your family home in New Jersey a very long time ago. She opened her home and her heart to a large group of extended family members from out of state. I was a teenager at the time, so probably didn't appreciate everything that went into planning this fun event. Sharon took the chaos in stride. Fun was had by all- including a day visit to NYC- my first time! Thanks for letting me share, I look forward to seeing more memories. Theresa Dunn
