George Philips VU2GT , A Pioneer and the inventor of economized GP 5/8 VHF in India, he was an Old Timer and active as ham and antenna manufacturer till he retire few years back A very jovial , calm and a sound technical person on Antenna and propagation , he was always available to hams for the advice on various antenna. With profound grief and sorrow we inform the passing away of GT today afternoon, we pray for his soul to rest in peace and we will always remember him

A dear family friend..spent many evenings with him. His daughter Amritha stayed with us in Chennai when she was doing her CA and George also spent some days with us. Cannot imagine he has left us RIP dear friend

I had only couple of instances meeting George. First time when my Mumbai qth setup in 2000/01. I got choke, VHF antenna and cables from him. He was gentleman. He made some technical fundamentals clear to me around antennas and transmission lines. He asked me what is balun?. I said device between balance and unbalance lines. He made it clear to me that the device I am requesting from him is choke and not balun. It is simply amazing to me when I get to learn from expert in a easy to understand manner. He also gave some basics on coax and loss in lines. So what I recieved from him was not bunch of antennas and coaxes, but much much more knowledge to stay rest of my life. George, your such short interactions have left great impressions on many of ham friends like me. We miss you. A final SK vu2gt de vu2xe
