Judge Virgilio Martinez Capili was born on 3 April 1933 to Brigido Tamayo Capili of Compania Maritima, and Concepcion Martinez Capili, a Doctor of Dental Medicine. He married Salud Pendon Capili on 15 January 1966. They have five children. He earned his High School Diploma and Associate in Arts degree from the Far Eastern University. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from Manuel L. Quezon University School of Law. He was a member of Beta Sigma Lambda Fraternity. He was a Private Practitioner and Special Attorney of COMELEC under Supreme Court Justice Lino Patajo during the late 1950s, before transferring to the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel as State Corporate Attorney. He briefly served as a Special Assistant to Civil Service Commissioner Abelardo Subido in the early 1960s, and retired as Assistant Government Corporate Counsel in the 1990s, after serving the Office of the Government Corporate Counsel (OGCC) for more than 30 years. He was a faithful husband, a devoted father and a doting grandfather. Virgilio is survived by his wife, Salud, children, Jose Wendell, John Wesley, James Walter, Jun Wilvir, and Sheryll Liza, daughters-in-law Selyn Cuasay, Karla Medina and Donna San Diego, son-in-law Ace Navarroza, and his grandchildren, Lorenzo Miguel, Maxine Mikaela, Lauryn Dominique, Patrick Joseph, Juan Carlos, Yumi Abigail, Sean Tristan and Sara Caitlyn. His remains were brought to the Resurrection and Assumption Chapels of Santa Maria Della Strada Parish in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on 20-22 June 2020. He was interred at Loyola Memorial Park, Marikina on 23 June 2020. He will be missed by his family, friends, colleagues and acquaintances.

Hi Lolo, i remember when i wanted to be a lawyer like you.. you had this shelf full of books and every summer when my cousins came to stay ,we would play school-schoolan and i would read them but i never did understand them at that time. Hehe evry night, like you i would write at night and that’s how i also got into poetry. You were an inspiration to me. You were always hardworking, passionate and truthful something i live by now . when i was a kid you always took me around to see manila then you would meet up with attty.Yap and right after we would go fetch lola at philam and you would take us to dinner at mcdo, you always ordered the mcChicken that later becamwe one of my favorite sandwiches. You were a famliy man who treated everyone with care, love and respect and not a day goes by that you never made everyone feel secured and happy we may have lost in touch when i was growing up but you were always there not just for me but also my family. You did a lot for your family and this country , as we lay you to rest,continue to keep watching over us and we will miss you everyday and we will keep your memory alive in our hearts. Thank You Lolo,may you rest in peace.

When I was little, I remember playing with my sister Alec in Lolo’s room. We would play with his old briefcase and laptop of some sort. It was a fond and happy childhood memory for me. He was always kind enough to let us play and be noisy, even though I think we were disturbing him. How I wish Vera could have met you Lolo.. she would have loved to meet a warm and gentle person such as you. May you rest in peace. We’ll always remember and pray for you.
