Sukumar had extraordinary educational and career achievements. After obtaining Masters Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Industrial Engineering, he worked at AECL in Chalk River, before joining OPG in 1997 as a Senior Technical Engineer. He obtained certification from the CNSC as a Control Room Shift Supervisor, and was well known and respected throughout the Operations team. Suk or Suku (as he was known) was a wonderful man and will be remembered as a humble, kind and caring friend. He had intelligence, integrity, trustworthiness, and the highest level of respect from those that worked for and with him. He loved to travel with his family and enjoyed yoga and hiking. Sukumar passed away from post Covid complications in Chennai, India. He will be deeply missed by his wife Latha and daughter Uttara, as well as his co-workers, friends and those who knew him.

I am so sorry for this loss. I always thought we would all grow old together. He was like a son to John and John was always bragging about Sulu's talent. Suku was so proud of his wife and daughter and he was happiest watching in front of the TV watching sports with his wife and daughter chatting with him. That and taking his daughter skiing. The world has become a less dependable place without him.

Suk was a kind, caring, considerate gentleman. I enjoyed working with him and just talking with him as a friend and co-worker. No matter the mood, Suk always found a way to smile and leave a person or a group feeling better. Suk often spoke lovingly of his wonderful family and I know that he is now watching over them and all of us. We miss you. Rest in Peace Suk!

I was lucky enough to work with Sukumar at multiple points during his career. Early on in my own career, I was assigned to his shift crew. He maintained respect from his crew as a strong leader, holding them to high standards, and caring to help each member become better. His kindness, intelligence, and integrity made an easy decision for me to work for him again when the opportunity arose. For myself, he was a leader, a mentor, and a friend.
