Mrs Roz Artist was a much-loved teacher, leader and friend at Cherry Grove Primary School, having started working at the school in 2012. She was known for her compassion, creativity, spark and the amazing ability to build connections with everyone, particularly the children who she so dearly loved working with. Mrs Artist had particular impact with her work for children who were struggling in school, either with their learning or with pastoral challenges. She was always able to offer care and connection, and allow any child to be their very best. Her creativity and passion was also a real strength, and she sought to build powerful and inspirational learning experiences through her work with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Ballet. Mrs Artist was also responsible for first leading and implementing the UNICEF Rights-Respecting agenda for the school. More recently, as Deputy Head, she was responsible for leading our wider curriculum, and she did so with vigour and excitement. Mrs Artist touched many lives and it is as a 'most-loved teacher' that she will be remembered and her legacy live on. I have just learned of the tragic passing of Roz Artist. My daughter loved Mrs Artist, and we always found a connection with her. Her compassion and understanding helped my daughter overcome so many negative thoughts. A beautiful person inside and out. RIP Roz, you will live on in our hearts and memories . So sad to hear the news of the passing of a much loved, caring, nurturing teacher to my daughter who leads the school at end of year 4 in 2023. Olivia always loved to share her successes with Mrs Artist and loved her positive enthusiasm and praise. You will be missed by so many. Our thoughts are with your family and friends. Mrs Artist was one of my favorie teachers , she woud allways have a laugh with me. She allways used to Talk to me about manchester united an i will allways rememeber a memorie she shared with me about the 1999 Champions league final. I left cherry grove in 2018 an i allways said to myslef i would go back an see her but i allways forgot but Now its to late an i will never be able to talk to her. all i wish is that she could see me again one last time

Roz will be a sorely missed teacher in the school, in any school in my opinion, she was quick to smile and find the fun in life, her impact on my son Henry is profound, she was kind and caring even when he was being a ‘character’, he misses her in school and remembers the fun times with her. As a parent Roz made it a bit easier when things were not going well, quick to find the positive and reframe the child as just needing the right hand to steer. I’ll miss her in the governors meetings as she tried not to laugh at my many attempts to get into a password protected document! Words are inadequate at times like these to convey the loss of such a wonderful, kind and caring person.

Having been a staff member at Cherry Grove since 2014, Roz was first and foremost a lovely colleague. Then fortunately, she became Y3/4 teacher to my youngest child - Lizzie. She empowered Lizzie to be the best she could be, and for that I will be eternally grateful. Lizzie makes no bones that Mrs Artist was her favourite ever teacher! And thankfully, that feeling was mutual and I know Roz held a special place for Lizzie in her heart too. I am beyond sad for the loss of such a wonderful human being. May you be at rest now Roz.
