Life in Lampeter has lost a hero, a shining star and a man who made life easier for everyone away from home for the first time....someone who will be always in my heart and i know every other students and a lot of our parents as they knew he was there for us! Sadly missed and dearly loved xxx

Ron was a lovely, kind, gentle and funny man with a twinkle in his eye and the best of hugs. In all the time we worked together in the Union we never had a cross word. All us girls in the office loved him to bits and we even made up a birthday song for him "It's you Ron, Ron, Ron" (based on Da Do Ron Ron Ron) He WAS the Union Bar and we'll never forget him. Ron was always so kind and friendly. I never worked for him whilst at Lampy, but know those who did loved doing so. He was always a face synonymous with the place. He will be truly missed and my deepest sympathy to his family. RIP Ron.

Ron’s kindness and quiet support during my years at Lampeter will never be forgotten. His sense of humour and hugs kept me smiling and he became like family to me. He made a huge impression on so many people and was so loved. Sending Debs and family so much love at this sad time.

I've some very fond memories of Ron, he was a lovely man. Being away from home for the first time and learning to stand on your own two feet was so daunting. Ron took me on as bar staff in my first term and in doing so gave me so much more than a job. Rest in peace Ron. X

Although I didn't know Ron personally, you couldn't not help but bump into him if you went to lampeter students union. Always smiling. Very sad news.

Ron was brilliant, I thought the world of him. I worked behind the bar for 4 years we used to have some lovely chats , especially the 5.15-8pm Shift when it was quiet, he’d sit at the end of the bar with a cup of tea, telling stories. In the last few years we got into a little routine of having a Christmas catch up on the phone, and last year we had a lovely meet up with Claire Mcginty in Pershore. He showed us a family video and was so proud of his children, and grandchildren and all their achievements. I’ll miss hearing that enthusiastic “ Alright Blue!“ at other end of the phone . RIP Ron, we’ll miss you x

Heartfelt sympathy to Deb's and Ron's family. He will be greatly missed by so many. He made such a part of many people's memories of university. We all remember him so fondly and I know he too cherished his memories of us. I'm so pleased I got the opportunity to catch up with him last summer. A firm but fair boss and a true gent. RIP Ron x
