Richard and Carol Roth

What a great man. I first met SHeriff Roth as part of the Lions Eye Bank Shoot for sight in 1985 or 86. We stole the idea from the US Olympic Team that had an event in LA for the US Olympic Shooting Team. They had Magic Johnson, Tommy Lasorda, Micheal Knight of Knight Rider, Wm Shatner, etc come out to hit clay pigeons. There were donors for every clay pigeon that that could hit. Some did very, very well. WE tried the same principle here for the Lions Eye Bank. Sheriff Roth, the Fire Chief, Willis Reed, the Creighton Mens basketball coach at the time, the mayor were all in attendance. There were a lot of folks who bet $100 per shot that Coach Reed couldn't hit any clay pigeons. They were right! I remembser that the Governor Kay Orr sent the head of the HIWAY Patrol to shoot for her. Evidently, at the end of the match Dick Roth and the Hiway patrol man were tied, but it wasn't over. They went down to the end of the range and had their own personal shootoff. I don't remember who won, but they were satisfied, so the Lions were satisfied, too. We raised over $100,000 in those fundraisers for the Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska. Thank you Sheriff Roth. Dr. Wm Schlichtemeier, Omaha

Dick and Carol certainly had interesting and memorable lives. I am so sorry for your loss Dick and Carol certainly had long, interesting, and memorable lives. Linda and I are so sorry for your loss.

Bob: I remember your parents well especially your father from our days at the Beta House. I was always impressed by what he accomplished during his life and his self assurance in his attitude toward life. His life was full of service. Years later i would run into him at a Taco Bell close to my office and we would have short conversations about family, etc. My sincere condolences.

Dick & Carol set a great example for the rest of us to follow. They were kind & gentle & caring of others. I knew them on the tennis courts-dick & Carol were one of the tennis couples attending our Christmas Party in the 90’s when we lived in Omaha. I had the greatest respect for them & their abilities in playing tennis. Even though I was 20 years younger, they developed finesse & consistently challenged us! I’m so thankful in knowing them & our association w/tennis. My sympathies to each of you in this difficult time of sorrow & blessings to all of you who were so lucky to know & love them.
