I got to know Randy at the Wellawatte Methodist Church. We were at youth together, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday school for a while and led youth fellowship together. Randy - so gentle and kind and a perfect gentleman, in all the years we have worked together I have never seen him angry. Road trips for camps were never dull, he would teach us his scouts songs and we would thoroughly enjoy singing rounds. His joy and shaky laughter unforgettable. Always out to have fun and had a vivid eye for beauty in nature. He clicked some great shots. I remember clearly how he once brought some ‘kudu’ in a little bottle and showed us, at a YF Ring meeting, how to sniff a pinch of it for the relief of sinus blockage. This memory makes me smile cos in todays’s context he would have been performing illegal actions
