In memory of our colleague Professor Fran Gibson, whose career at St George’s University of London (and subsequently City St George’s, University of London) spanned over 36 years. Fran made innumerable contributions to our research and education, most recently through her academic leadership of Biomedical Education. As a much-loved colleague, friend and mentor her loss is felt by many across our University community.

What an untimely loss. Fran was my "next-door neighbour" for many years. I hope I did not disturb her too much! Although we never worked directly together I would often go to her for advice or to ask her to explain to me how something in SGUL worked. She was always helpful and well-informed. It must be such a loss for those who were close to her. We have rescued her plants just before they died - which I think would have made her happy.

Fran Gibson has really been one of the most supportive and grateful person, for my career progression. I have met her twice in person during interviews and her presence made me feel very comfortable and confident. You will truly be missed Fran. Fran was a founding member of the Education Technology Monitoring Group, where her expertise and unwavering contributions played an integral role in driving forward our work. Her insights were always invaluable, and I had the privilege of working closely with her on a number of strategic initiatives.
