On 29th October 2020, Korok Gain a volunteer with Plan International South Sudan lost his life while returning from Pibor on official duty. Korok had been a volunteer with Plan International since 1st April 2020 and his work involved mobilizing community members (who were mostly parents of children under 5 years, pregnant & lactating mothers) to participate and access much needed nutrition services. His Supervisor Sebit said, “His efforts paid off by not only reducing malnutrition in the communities he served but also contributed to saving lives of many mothers and children at risk of starvation. I remember him as a young man full of life, who worked very well with others. He gained trust and respect of the community members and other stakeholders. His work brought joy and hope to beneficiaries who live in a state of despair and hopelessness.”
