Aunty My very first memory of you was from my mum telling me often... your God mother is Aunty Onome....this revelation is usually followed by pure admiration of how you are not just a mentor to Dipo, Dunni, and Ayoola ... but how you have instilled a reading culture into them. I remember my mum often bragging how Dipo reads a lot and is doing well ... surely I had big shoes to fill... I finally met you some time in my secondary school holidays in Abuja... and surely you didn’t disappoint in gifting me my very first books... telling me how that’s the secret to success... Aunty ..your spirituality was never in question... You went all out to make sure everyone was doing fine.. Sigh ... this has really come as a shock to us all... But we trust you are resting at the bosom of the Lord. Rest in Peace Aunty

*TRIBUTE TO ONOME MY WIFE, MY FRIEND, MY SISTER* I still can't believe that I'm writing this. The news of your demise came to me as a rude shock and has left me speechless to say the least, amidst asking unanswerable questions. Why? Onome can not go like that now... I must confess, This is one death too painful. Onome, where do I start from. Our struggles to meet up with passions and the likes are pointless when someone like you goes so soon. I can’t bring myself to stop crying at the thought of you. Just know that I will miss you, my children and I will never forget you. My monthly sojourn to Abuja between 2003 and 2009 and 2012 t0 2015 again brought us closer. Onome was my chaperone, my cook, my driver, my children's guardian, my first son's god-mother as if I am more special. When you were not available, you have me the choice of using the Rover to make my visit to Abuja look like I was a resident. Sigh ... When you visited me in August, you were so vibrant and full of energy and you promised to see me in December when you come. Does this mean I will never see you nor hear words of encouragement from you again? Oh, what a shame! Onome, a friendlier friend to your friend. When she's angry with you, you hear 'pangba', which up till now I've not been able to fathom the meaning. I heard the songs - "Wene ruwe ghogho, Oghene ruwe ghogho" and "Oghene rukevwe u rukwve mewo pevwe", you taught me over 20 years ago in church the other day and your memories came to mind all over. A strong woman - a very strong one at that. Thank you for coming, touching my life the way you did. Those special memories will sure make me smile or cry the more but in all, 'if only I could have you back for just a little more.' If you meet your husband, Folarin whom you loved so much, tell him too how much we loved and missed him. May your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace. Adieu Onome! My friend and Sister. Olusola Oden-Ikpi (nee Okuribido)

Another gem gone in the Okuribido family, though I didn't know her so well but her seeds seek alot for her. May God bless her soul and continue to flourish her seeds left behind.

Onome, my wife, the news of your passing on was received with a great shock. You were an open person who was loving and caring. We love you but God loves you best. May your soul rest in peace. Sleep well beloved

Grandma. I keep telling myself that this isn't true. I felt your willingness to learn, your free spirit, acceptance of everyone and easiness towards life. My Jehovah comfort your children, friends and all whom you have imparted

Words alone cannot express our emptiness on receiving the news of her demise! My wife and I recall with sadness our several plans to visit her home this year but never got around to doing so. Mrs. Onome H. Okuribido was an amazing friendly woman who extended her family warmt to us. She was a great catholic and a teacher in every sense of it. May the Good Lord grant her soul eternal rest and console her family. Amen!

Onome was a good natured and friendly person who has left us too soon. May God grant her soul eternal rest in the Lord's bosom.
