Nick Webb

Having stumbled across this incredibly sad news whilst late night, insomnia driven Googling, I'm literally stunned. I worked with Nick many years ago, and I remember him as a supremely intelligent, hard working lawyer who unfortunately played the wrong code of rugby. I guess you can't have everything. R.I.P. Nick

I was so very saddened to hear of Nicks passing and my thoughts with his family and friends - he will be sorely missed and very fondly remembered. I worked with Nick for many years in our respective capacity as Regional Solicitors for the North West and Regional the South West. More latterly together with Jonathan Taylor we worked closely together following restructure which involved many meetings in either Birmingham or London and the opportunity for a social beer afterwards which was always much appreciated. I will remember Nick as a kind, thoughtful and caring colleague and friend who will be sincerely missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known him.

I was fortunate to know Nick for many years and will always value the help and support he provided in response to various work requests - his incredible knowledge was shared in such a considerate and professional way. My sincere condolences go out to all his family and friends.

I was so very shocked and saddened to hear about Nick's passing. I worked with Nick for many years at the EA, and he was a calm, considerate and patient man as well as a very talented lawyer. He was always supportive and encouraging and I learnt lots from him. Nick will be very sorely missed. My condolences to his family and friends.

The news of Nick’s passing has been felt with great sadness by so many colleagues. I was fortunate to follow Nick into Solihull and Midlands Region as Regional Solicitor, where he had already made friends and the best of impressions. Nick was held in high regard as a person and a lawyer by all colleagues and in the Regional Legal Group we forged close and supportive relationships. Nick was perceptive and sensitive, not only in matters of the law, and had the ability to relate to many people in their own way. I would look forward to joining him before meetings or on the train on our way there. We might share a few words about work and the day’s business, but also family, recent meetings walks, the weekend’s sporting triumphs or disappointments, the latest novel he might be reading or a gig or theatre visit we’d recommend to each other. We united over Bellowhead and appreciation of the finer points of Morecambe and Wise, amongst other things. Nick was highly intelligent, quietly thoughtful and wise, a man of many parts, including a great sense of humour. The sincerest of condolences to Nick’s family and friends on their great loss.

We were so saddened by Nick’s passing. He was a quiet and genuine man, and an expert in his field, and I and my team always relied on his knowledge and judgement. I will miss our conversations about his weekend cycling, as well as his quiet authority on all matters regulatory. I often think of Nick when we have our team meetings, because he leaves such a gap. I would often work with Nick as my duty manager during incidents. He was always calm, supportive and would listen but he also had a way of gently making sure we knew when he wanted more or different! I shall miss working with him and my thoughts and prayers are with you as his family.

To Nick's family and friends. I'm Carol, one of Nick's colleagues in Legal Services at the Environment Agency - I'm a planning law specialist and worked with Nick on some planning related work. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Nick's tragic death. My heart goes out to you all. I have thought about him on some of the sunny days we have had since we lost him and felt so sad it is a day he isn't there to see. Like many other colleagues at the Environment Agency, I so wish there was something I could have done to help him. The isolated working conditions the pandemic has forced on us has made it so much harder to support other colleagues (and to work out who is most in need of support). I can only hope that the many messages you will receive telling you what a valued colleague he was - he did some amazing work in his long career at the EA - will be some little comfort for you. We will never forget him and you will all be in our thoughts too even though we don't know you.I have made a donation to Crisis in his memory. regards Carol Bolt
