Eu e Neide Iniciamos nossas carreiras juntas no Brasil, ela no jornalismo e eu na Psicologia. Tínhamos terminado os nossos cursos e moramos juntas em Aracaju e São Paulo - Brasil. Depois, nos separamos e perdemos o contato, mas nunca me esqueci dela. Vi somente agora a notícia e não sei o que aconteceu , mas me deixou triste demais. Ela era uma pessoa especial, batalhadora e sonhava com uma vida melhor para ela e para as irmãs. Tenho ótimas lembranças das nossas aventuras e de nosso convívio. Eu imagino o quanto ela está "causando" lá no céu rsrs Fique em paz querida! Até um dia!!

I will always remember Neide as somebody who was quick to offer her help and support, whether it was on a legal project (oh boy), setting up and enjoying an office activity, or for one of the multiple philanthropic activities she was passionate about and got involved in. I will miss that about her. She was also willing to offering her perspective or opinion on a range of matters. I will also miss this. I will look back fondly to the time I had with her doing both, from our discussions during our sometimes shared ferry commute to our shoulder-to-shoulder work filling backpacks for Operation Backpack or volunteering at a shelter. Neide, you will be missed.

Neide was a godsend when she joined the Legal team at a very critical time. A true champion! Aside from work, I cherished our long conversations on similarities and differences between Brazilian and Haitian cultures, especially around music and food. We compared notes on our upbringing and relationships with family members and uncovered many similarities. Her experiences in her personal life pushed her to join groups at fSDL/RWS embracing diversity and promoting LGBTQ+ awareness and understanding. I admired her commitment to actively participate in activities for the betterment of this world. We spend so many waking hours with colleagues, often more than with family members. I am a better man for having crossed paths with Neide Magalhães. She will be sorely missed.

Neide, you will be dearly missed! I remember it like yesterday when we volunteered together in the shelter or when you proudly told me about your NYC apartment at the May happy hour - I still hear the vibrance in your voice and see the sparkle in your eyes. I will carry your memory in my heart.

In May 2022 we met at the NY office re-opening happy hour. We had a great, authentic conversation and you impressed me with your warmth and humor. We all feel your loss.

Neide, you have become like a part of the family and I am so saddened and still in shock. I will always remember our first hectic weeks during the big Brazilian litigation under which you joined. Since then, we enjoyed many great talks and shared good laughs over the years we have worked together. You have become an integral part of our New York office as well as our NY Charity & Entertainment Committee and you will be missed dearly. To John and the family, please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
