I wish to extend my condolences to Mike's family and loved ones. Mike was the Country Manager for The Bahamas and was instrumental in building the Freeport Container Port for Hutchison Whampoa, giving our country a much needed boost in the maritime industry. He set a standard for all of us to follow by his work ethic, quiet perseverance and sense of humour, when the days were long and demanding, which became the norm. It was a pleasure working with Mike and the FCP and FHC team. His legacy will live on in Freeport by those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Cheers, Mike... you will always be fondly remembered! Rest in peace.

I was deeply saddened by the passing of an extraordinary leader, mentor, and human being. Working with him was truly an honor. He led with integrity, wisdom, and compassion, and he took the time to guide, encourage, and believe in those around him. His mentorship shaped not only my professional growth but also the way I approach life and leadership. His impact will continue to live on through the many people he inspired, taught, and supported. I am profoundly grateful for the opportunity to have learned from him and to have known him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

We share your sadness at having lost a good and decent man whose humour was infectious and whose enthusiasm, knowledge and generosity defined him. We share your grief and are very, very sorry.

Such sad news about Mike. My sympathies, prayers and thoughts go out to all his family He was a good man and inspiring leader. I had the pleasure and good fortune of working for him (he was our Country Manager) in both the Bahamas and Mexico. Always smiling and happy to provide guidance and support whenever it was needed. Many memories made from the office, the Pink Building, Shenanigans, Club Caribe and Hussong's Cantina. I recall him arriving at the GB Airport control tower at 2am on New Years day 2000 where we were on Y2K watch to offer his 'support and good cheer'. We've lost a good one!

O am saddened by the loss of Mike. We met many years ago when he took the position at the Container Port. O was his travel agent; joyful times. To his family my heart goes out to you for the loss of such a distinguished gentleman. May the grace of God cover you as you mourn his passing. May the soul of Michael rest in peace and rise in glory with the Lord. Amen

As the present chief executive officer of Hutchison Port, Freeport Container Port and Freeport Harbour Company in Freeport, The Bahamas, I am immensely grateful to Mike for his life and contribution to the development of the terminal and people at Freeport. I had the good fortune as one of the initial group of Bahamians recruited by the management led by Mike to work and learn from him. Mike was a passionate, engaging and hardworking leader. In fact we called him “hours Powers”. A term of endearment for the notorious long work hours be contributed to the development of what was then a precarious start up business. While Mike worked with much diligence, he is known to enjoy life too. He insisted that we ‘newbies’ were to share in those times. That Welsh accent, smile and gregarious laughter somehow made hard work and trials of work more durable. We were saddened to learn of Mike’s health challenges over the past years. As a praying people he was always continually in our thoughts. We pray his soul rest in peace.
