Michael McGlynn

Didn’t know Michael as well as most of you, only from when I worked at the ECQ Bar in Sydney in -13/14, and Michael was playing there regularly. He was always so kind and friendly, and as a student from overseas, I felt less lonely having found a kind soul as Michael to chat with at work. He had that gift where you felt seen and remembered, rather than seen as just a random staff member, and those people have always made a lasting impression on me. As the big fan of music I am, I felt privileged to be working while listening to Michael’s beautiful voice and his musicality. When I came back to Australia in 2018, I brought my husband to hear Michael play at the Kirribilli Hotel, which was great seeing him perform again and hearing his beautiful voice. I am so sad for all Michael’s loved ones, friends and family, who has lost such a kind and beautiful soul much too soon. I’m sending my condolences, and just wanted to write a few words to pay respect, to Michael and to his loved ones. I’m thinking of you and can’t imagine what you’re going through. Rest In Peace, dear Michael.

I first met Michael many years ago when he was working at Turramurra Music. Not only did he convince me to buy the guitar gear I was looking at, but he also convinced me that he was the right guy to produce my first record… he wasn’t wrong! What an amazing talent, and genuinely one of the nicest dudes ever! Rest easy mate.

Deepest condolences to Michael's Mum, sister, family and many friends. I first met Michael when I was out walking my little Pomeranian dog, Teddy. Michael insisted on taking Teddy's photo. Every time we passed Michael on our walks, he would stop me to pat little Ted. I soon found out Michael was a music producer and he discovered I was an opera singer. Michael was always very encouraging about my voice and singing technique. When Michael was about to move to Forster, I attended his farewell party. I was a bit shy, thinking I'd be out of place among cool, younger celebrity types. I needn't have worried. Michael introduced me to everyone. I sang an opera aria at his party, accompanied by a great rap artist, and Michael was delighted. I always thought Michael was about 30, since he emanated youthfulness, passion and positivity. He did not move or look or speak like anyone aged 51. That said, 51 is absolutely way too young for him to have departed this world. I feel stunned, not accepting of this and we all needed his light, love and talent, well, forever. I will try to follow in his footsteps now, not even taking a day for granted. I was privileged to know Michael, and in the 10 years plus that I knew him, he unfailingly had a smile and only had good to say about others on every occasion. RIP beautiful soul, Michael.

I first met Mike over 20 years ago at the Manly Pacific. We would try and go every week that he and Lucas were playing. During that time we not only got to enjoy his incredible musical talent, but we got to know Mike. That huge smile, warm hug, and big heart. Joy just seemed to resonate from within. Over many years, and many gigs, from Manly to Narrabeen Sands, to Jindabyne, the Greengate, Epoque, and Kirribilli, we got to know Mike. He was always interested and eager to know how we were doing, and always happily played our endless requests, often without even asking. I still can’t believe you are gone. My heartfelt condolences to your family. As someone said yesterday, the candle burned out long before, the legend ever did.

Beautiful Mike, thank you for all the conversations, the coffee mornings and for always having a kind word to share. May you fly high for if anyone deserves to be remembered with kindness it’s most definitely is you… we will always remember you with smiles and love ❤️

We met Michael through the Duelling Piano shows at Seelands which around 2010 to 2016, he stayed with us, so many wonderful memories. He once took a green frog home by mistake, hidden in his joggers, got through airport security, threw his joggers on the patio at home and then noticed his jogger move and out jumped the frog, such a funny story. Michael was such a nice bloke and so full of life! Everyone's friend. Condolences to all his family.

Wonderful farewell for this lovely man. I had only met him a handful of times and everyone spoke very highly of him. Talented musician and great entertainer. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

I just wanted to say how amazing and unique Michael was. And how lucky I was to have met him and stayed in contact over 15 years. My heart goes out to his family and close friends. I have read the many tributes from people online and their descriptions and emotions are nearly as beautiful as the man himself. Hard to believe I won’t see his smiling face or read his ever-positive messages again. Vale Michael.
