I met Dr. Petith on a shuttle from the airport to Carbondale as a medical student. He was such a kind soul, helping me with advice about my career, arranging a rotation at the local hospital and inviting my friends and I hiking on his land which he was constantly building bridges and gazebos etc. I also had the pleasure to meet his friend sigrid once. He made such an impact on my life, and I would often notify him of any life events by email. I will miss our email exchanges dearly, and I will never forget his kindness, and advice. He was a great doctor and a wonderful human being

My deepest sympathies to his family. This remarkable man made a very deep impression on me. He was always very polite and never had a bad word to say about anyone. I’d like to be counted as one of his friends. I’ll miss his smiling face and kind disposition. May he Rest In Peace.
