Mark Orsman

Deeply saddened by the news. Mark, above all else, was a kind and warm human being. Never judgemental and always positive. He will be missed.

Saddened to hear about your loss. It was truly a pleasure working with Mark first on LU projects then on Crossrail through Ricardo Rail. He was one of the smartest people I worked with. He will be deeply missed.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's passing. I first met him in the early 1990's when Rolling Stock Engineering was based in Acton but didn't work closely with him until the 2000's on the Victoria Line Upgrade. Mark was never afraid to stand his ground when design safety needed to be assured and was greatly respected for this. He was highly supportive of me when my mother was in terminal decline and I needed some flexibility in my working arrangements. He supported my desire to incrementally reduce my working week as I approached retirement and ensured that I found 'one last challenge' after the VLU was successfully delivered. His ability to mix good humour, support and understanding with professional determination should be an exemplar to us all.

I worked with Mark on the Victoria Line Upgrade, he was such a character, his individuality was unique, His Kindness and sense of humour made it a pleasure to work with him. My thoughts are with his Family at the sad time,

Very sad news. I didn’t know Mark well but remember him from working on rolling stock refurbishment and modernisation at London Underground in the early 1990’s. He was quite a character, really knew his stuff and was looked up to by the younger ones on the project. RIP Mark

I worked with Mark on the Victoria Line Upgrade Programme and am so very sad to hear of his passing. I greatly appreciated his intellectual ability - any work-related issue seemed less troubling once it had been talked-through with Mark. He took complexity in his stride and always seemed to find a pragmatic way through. Working with Mark was a very positive experience since he was genuine, insightful, supportive and collaborative - a gentleman and a scholar. On social occasions, his colourful velvet jackets signposted his unique character and perspective. I feel lucky to have known Mark over the few years that we worked together. My sincere condolences to his family, relations and friends.

I'm so sorry to hear this news about Mark. I worked with him on the Victoria Line Upgrade, and was so pleased to have the chance to work with him again on the Deep Tube Upgrade. As others have said, he was one of a kind - a gentle and hugely intelligent man. He always had time for a friendly and encouraging word with me, and I truly appreciated his support and guidance. Rest well, Mark.

RIP Mark and my humble condolences to the Orsman family. You have truly left a legacy to proud of in LU. Some of us will remember things you said, for others its the things you did but I don't think any of us will ever forget how you made us feel! You were humble, caring, genuine and passionate. Those are traits many of us should strive to live up to in memory of good people like you.
