Marie,Esthaleitha Arthur neé Young AKA Orpah James of Lowmans Wd was the wife of the late Ezekiel, Benjamin,Elford Arthur AKA Efford James/Chief. She was the matriarch of the Arthur's clan and raised nine biological children,(and had the sad experience of burying three of her sons) two adopted and fostered many others.Her legacy as a caregiver,sister,soldier,friend was evident in her life of service to the Lowmans SDA Church and her community, where she wore many hats. Her legacy lives on, as we remember her no-nonsense attitude, her witty humor, her bell-like laughter and her love for music. Her attributes live on in her children and grand and great grandchildren in some way. Forever in our hearts. May her soul rest in eternal peace.

October 15, 2024 Though we did not have the privilege of knowing Sis. Marie Arthur personally, the stories shared by those closest to her, speak volumes as to the life she lived. A woman of unshakeable faith, her dedication to the Lord and her Seventh Day Adventist beliefs were not just principles she held, but a way of life that touched the heart of everyone around her. Sis. Arthur’s spirituality was woven into the fabric of her daily life – whether in quiet moments of prayer, or her joyful service to others. She lived by the Word, guiding her family and friends with wisdom, patience, and love that only a deep connection with God can bring. Her strength came from her unwavering trust in His promises, and she was known to remind others of His goodness even in the midst of trials. To her family, Sis. Arthur was more than a mother or friend; she was a spiritual anchor and a source of inspiration and comfort. Her legacy is not one of grand gestures, but of simple, steadfast faith that left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her devotion to her church family, along with her desire to reflect Christ in all she did, will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her, including her daughter and our colleague, Mrs. Ysanna John. Though Sis. Arthur is no longer with us, we take comfort in the blessed hope that if we remain faithful, we shall meet again when Christ returns. Until then, may we hold on to the example she set – to love, to serve, and to trust in the Lord with all our hearts. May her soul rest in peace, until we meet again on that glorious morning!
