Malcolm Robertson

My abiding memory of Malcolm would be seeing him in the high visibility jackets marshalling cars at the high school of Dundee during Christmas carol services. That just epitomised the man. He was a dear Christian brother who was devoted to the life of the church and served willingly with no fuss. He will be dearly missed by the whole church family. Sincere condolences to the Robertson Family from Toronto. Malcolm and I loved researching our respective family’s genealogy and history and, over the years, I deeply appreciated receiving Malcolm’s e-mails which contained suggestions about genealogical searches and links to useful websites. Although my husband and I did not meet Malcolm and his family during their visits to Toronto, our neighbour, Beulah Musselwaite, believed that our Robertson Families were connected. My ancestral Robertson kin lived in Kirriemuir, and several cousins still live there. Yes, this truly is a sad time. Malcolm was a kind, thoughtful, and respected man -- and those principled qualities transcended many borders.

We are very sorry to know of Malcolm's passing. He was always up for a bit of fun! I remember him wading in to An Lochan Uaine with his trousers rolled up on our last walking weekend (I couldn't upload the image unfortunately). Malcolm was always a friendly person. He took an interest in you. One of the last chats with Malcolm was on our New Day's Walk 2020, where he asked me 'Why is NCR still in Dundee?' Our chats were always interesting... Will miss you...

I've know Malcolm since I was a teenager. No matter how much Iain and I lounged around the house, helped ourselves to food in the fridge, played music too loud and made a nuance of ourselves, Malcolm always treated me with dignity and love. I felt welcomed into his home. He approached me with tenderness, curiosity and grace, the same way he related to everyone else. He was a remarkable, yet understated man. His love, humility and dedication to others will be always be held as a standard of a life well lived and a model I know I will try to emulate. May he rest in grace and live on in all our hearts.

We were so sad to hear your news, Malcolm was a lovely man, he and my dad were so alike. Sending love to all the family at this time.

A dear brother who will be sorely missed in CBC. It was a pleasure to work with Malcolm as a deacon and also on the building group. He was always there with a smile and a witty comment, nothing ever phased him. A bright light has indeed gone out in CBC.

When I think of Malcolm I think of someone who was always there helping when there was anything needing done, such as moving things about after the church service. He was always gentle and gracious in manner. I particularly remember a children's talk when he was asked to prove he could identify famous name digestives from own brand biscuits, he was a great sport! As everyone has commented, he will be sorely missed.
