Matt Bancroft

We were devastated to learn of the sudden passing of our much-loved colleague and friend, Matt Bancroft. Matt, who was our Mechanical Team Leader in our Vital Services Estates team, was a familiar friendly face to so many colleagues across our Children’s Hospital. During his 11 years with us, he was known as an excellent communicator – a genuine ‘go to’ person who was an important link with clinical teams for so many important projects. He was also loved for his sense of humour and for the way he worked with people. Away from work, Matt was a was a cherished grandfather and father, as well as a huge football fan, in particularly his beloved Liverpool FC. Some of us will know his son and “best mate” Billy, who is an electrician in our Estates team. They travelled to work daily together from their Derbyshire homes. In line with Matt’s love of The Reds, they would both regularly say “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to each other as a sign of support and affection. Matt is someone who will be remembered forever at BWC.

Sending our condolences on hearing the very sad news of Matt's passing. Our thoughts are with his his family, friends and his BCH friends and colleagues at this most difficult time. We had the pleasure of working with Matt, and he consistently showed a great empathy of play and its importance and positive impact to the emotional wellbeing of patients and families. When we needed something doing that would help with this he would be there to help with his kind nature and positive approach, going above and beyond.
