Lauren E.B. Charles

I've known Lauren for my whole life. We went to preschool together and graduated from Ben Franklin together. I'm so sorry for your loss, Mr. Charles. My mom and I are praying for you and I'm sure Bunchy greeted Lauren in heaven. Love to you.

I first met Lauren in high school. She usually sat in front of me if we were seated alphabetically. I remember her turning around everyday with her big beautiful smile to say hi and chat about something going on in our classes. She is dearly missed. My condolences to her family and friends.

I have known Lauren since college, and she had such an open and adventurous spirit. It was a privilege having her as a friend, and I will miss our DC connections when I was in town.

Lauren is a giant among men, and we will miss her quite a lot at work. My deepest condolences to her family and friends. She's one of the good ones, and we will do our best to honor her memory!

Lauren was such a bright light. We had the good fortune for her to work with us one summer during law school, out West here in Portland. She was smart, kind, light-hearted, and I am so sad to hear of her way-too-early death. My deepest sympathies to her parents and other loved ones; what a terrible loss. I had always thought she and I would cross paths again some day. I guess I will have to wait and look for her in the hereafter, where she is surely spreading sunshine now.

I worked with Lauren in DC. She was amazing at her job, but more than that, she was a breath of fresh air to talk to. She was unfailingly cheerful. If an unexpected issue came up, she never got flustered -- she just figured it out, with no complaints. On one occasion, she helped someone from another agency, and the person later told me that Lauren was fabulous and that she wished Lauren worked at her agency instead. I said I heartily agreed -- that Lauren was fabulous, but not that she should go work for a different agency! I'm so sorry that she's gone. My thoughts are with her family.
