Kate was an extremely well-liked and respected colleague throughout the 34 years that she worked with the FCA and our wider regulatory family. Kate contributed greatly to some of the highest profile initiatives across our organisation and worked tirelessly to strengthen our defences preventing the wrong firms and individuals from being able to cause harm to UK consumers. Kate was passionate about her work and protecting consumers, and she imbued that passion among those around her to whom she was a valued and inspiring colleague, source of support and friend. She will be fondly remembered as someone who always had time for others, for the fun she brought and for her playful sense of humour. Kate will be deeply missed.

Some of my very first memories of working at the OFT were of Kate, who at the time was the "Brussels" supremo in the mergers branch. She was a pleasure to work with 'back in the day' and it was lovely to see her again at Bob McDowall's retirement panto.

It was a joy and a privilege to work with Kate for what turned out to be just a few short months. Certainly nowhere near long enough. During that time I learned how committed Kate was to the protection of consumers, to her team, and to the wider regulatory community. She was a vital and vibrant part of the financial regulatory world, spearheading major strategic initiatives with tireless energy. Although her light has now gone out, we will all strive to deliver the legacy she created. I will miss her very much.
