Joseph Oren Whittaker, known as Joe, was born on April 29th, 1965. He served in the United States Marine Corps and a Miami Dolphins fan. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and anything electronic. His favorite holiday movie was The Christmas Story and he watched the 24-hour marathon EVERY YEAR. Joe passed away on March 11th, 2021.

Joe was not only a friend he was my brother! I arrived at NWS Concord just a 18year old marine and Joe took me under his wing! From the mall to Taco Bell, we were always together! This news broke my heart but I truly believe he beat us to a better place! I will see you again my brother and show you some better next level dance moves. Lol! Till we meet again brother! You were taken away from us when you were very young. We had hoped to meet up again in our adult life. I’m so sorry that didn’t happen. I know you were proud of your daughters. I remember when we spoke on the phone, we were surprised to find out that we both named our daughters Janelle (Jasmine Janelle). I’m sorry that you didn’t get a chance to meet your nieces. Joe had the warmest smile and the best laugh. We played volleyball and watched March Madness together. He was so proud of his daughters and proud to be a Marine. I will miss him terribly and my deepest sympathies to his family.

I met Joe at a Chevy dealership years ago so when he showed up to play volleyball, I thought, “I know that guy”. I figured it out a few conversations about trucks and fishing later. Everybody enjoyed Joe at our semi-organized weekly volleyball games in the park. He was always smiling. If Joe's life were remade into a Western, he would show up in a white Cowboy hat. He was truly a great guy. We already miss you Joe.
