Met John working in SCOC too. A straight-talking, approachable, and erudite bloke. What’s not to like? Condolences to his family.

I met John whist working in SCOC. He was an extremely approachable & helpful colleague. He was always willing to provide help with my work. He was an early bird in the office like me and a very lovely man all round. I'm so sorry for his loss and send my deepest sympathy to his family & friends.

Such very sad news to hear of John’s passing. I first met John at a national meeting when he was one of the first people I spoke to and he warmly welcomed me to the group. I got to know John much better through future meetings and visits to his work with his contributions to the group and the benefit of his vast experience in the Criminal Finances community. I had the pleasure of sharing time with John outside of meetings over a drink and some food and John was always such a friendly, interesting and considerate person. He will be sorely missed, my deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.

John was such a delight to know and work with. He was unflappable and had a wonderful sense of humour. I was most distressed to hear about John's passing through ex-colleagues, as I had retired in 2018. I worked in the same team as John, we often sat next to each other because of flexible working and our work also overlapped. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. I am sure we will all treasure many happy memories of John. When I retired, John wrote me a note which said "How will we cope without you?" Sadly, this is the sentiment now being echoed by his family. Rest in peace, dear John.

Extraordinarily sad news. I had the good fortune and privilege - and it was my privilege - to have John as part of the Directorate I led in the Home Office. He was a first rate public servant: values-driven, competent without showing off about it, and a proper team player. Moreover, a human being to boot. The civil service has lost a fantastic servant. As have the public. But that is nothing, I know, compared to the loss which will be felt by his family. All thoughts and best wishes to them at this time.

Deepest sympathy to Julie and John's family. So very sorry to hear this terribly sad news. John was a true gentleman and a lovely person who did a great job. A huge loss.

John was a true gentleman, I feel privileged to have known him. His calm, unflappable manner, and dry sense of human meant it was a pleasure to work with John. He will be greatly missed in the Criminal Finances and Proceeds of Crime community. My condolences to John's family, who he spoke of often, and friends.
