John Simms

John, where do I start? From stitching your head when you split it open in the back garden to the horror on your face when I walked back from the Coaledge with no shoes on. You were a true gent and I can't get my head around how someone so full of life can be no longer here. Your jokes were shocking but your passion for music was amazing and I will never forgot watching you up on stage with your beautiful daughters performing at your own 50th birthday. Rest easy ❤️

Wasn't sure what to write here... but felt we'd like to say something. Only wish we'd had the opportunity to get to know you John... sleep easy. Love and hugs, as always, to you Jacki ... our thoughts are with you and your family xxx

It is a pleasure to have known and worked with you Simmsy. I'm so glad our paths crossed, a great guy, conscientious and great sense of humor. I will always remember our site walkarounds. Sadly taken too soon. Thoughts with all of your family, on what is a difficult time.

So many beautiful memories of John when he visited us in Holland. Always playing on a guitar or making jokes and trying to speak dutch with my daughters. We will miss you. xxx

I'm so sad to hear about the early passing of Simmsy- I had the pleasure of working with John at Grangemouth and also up at Sullom Voe ( he must have loved the place as he wrote a song and kept on going on about the weather)- Simmsy was the best inspector that I've worked with- hugely professional and knowledgeable about all things mechanical. He hated when I used to ask him to look at Electrical systems- his hands used to wave about and he'd mutter that it was electrically giggery that would kill you. We had many a laugh and the world is a poorer place with the passing of such a gent.

You will always be the pest who ruffled my hair and called me Gillyhen. Always a hug or two with that daft grin on your face. A second brother to me that came into our lives and was loved by us all. Memories that will stay in our hearts forever ♥️ RIP John. XXX

So sad to hear this news, John was a wonderful man, my thoughts are with all his family, I bumped into John a few years ago, he was still the same happy man as he was when we’re at school xx

Simmsy, you filled every room you walked into with energy and humour and will be very sadly missed. Such a warm hearted man who wore his own heart on his sleeve, anyone who spent any time with him knew how much he loved his daughters and how much it changed his life meeting his best mate Jacki. I will always smile when I think of you, the scrutiny of our vegetables and the inhalation of the biscuits. God bless x
