A believer in family, Jeanette Rose Grant-Woodham was a career educator who was committed to the cause of empowering others through education. A firm believer that every child deserved a chance to be the best they can be, she believed that education was the key to ending the cycle of poverty many people encounter. She was also very committed to the cause of women's political empowerment. She was a beloved mother, aunt, mentor, and friend.

Farewell to Thee. But not farewell to all my fondest thoughts of thee; within my heart they still shall dwell. Mrs Jeanette Grant-woodham, during my student days at the Tivoli High School, you were a mentor, an educator, a mother, a caregiver, prosecutor and judge to me and many others. You were stern, but yet so gentle and kind. Had it not been for your selflessness and care, I wouldn't be alive, yet alone the man I am today. You saw in me, what I couldn't. You invested in me words of affirmation and compassion. You were my loudest cheerleader and my only family as I blazed the tracks in the Penn Relays. You provided for my family and I, a home and made sure I was fed. You saved my life Mrs Woodham. I saw you last, just a couple years back at function honouring Dr. Maria Smith.
