Dr. Jannie Evans Brown was a consummate educator, a bold and faithful believer, a dedicated worker, and a true sister in the faith. The mother of one and grandmother of two, Dr. Brown retired as a teacher from the Houston Independent School District system, where she had served with distinction and compassion for many years, and a long-time member of St. James' Episcopal Church, where she served as treasurer of the Episcopal Church Women (ECW). She also served as treasurer of the ECW of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas. She will be missed by her friends, relatives, colleagues and church members.

Hello, Brown Family. I am expressing my deepest condolences to you for the loss of your loved one Jannie. I know from personal loss how difficult and painful it can be. But someone wants you to know that one day soon this will all be over. At John 5:28, 29a, it says in part: "... for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out...." That is a beautiful promise that God has made. My beloved friend, traveling companion, meal partner, confidant, hanging out buddy, recommender of home repair providers, and so many other things. I relied on her for so much...for laughs, for honesty, for an example of how to live humbly in spite of so many gifts of talent, and so much more. Life will not be as rich without her. I know she went straight to Heaven & is now enjoying the many family & friends who preceded her. Rest in God's arms, Jannie!
