My deepest heartfelt condolences to Jacques' family and friends. I've known Jacques for several years, always in a sunny disposition, ready with a smile, a joke or a wise comment, always helpful, there when anyone needed him, with a clever, open mind and the warmest, friendliest voice. Thank you for making us better people, Jacques, you will always be dearly remembered.

Jacques, I am still not able to believe that the news is real and shocked. You were radiating your warmth from the very 1st time we met in the office and never put anyone below you. I will miss our conversations, good laugh...I will never forget your love and kindness to your friends/colleagues, which taught me a lot. I would like to send my sincere condolences to Jacques' wife and family.

In some way it did not feel real till today. A beautiful service very fitting for a wonderful man. Jacques would uplift your day in his own calm and joyful way. He will be missed by many of us. My condolences to his family and those dear to him. Au revoir Jacques.

Dear uncle Jacques, You were such a sweet uncle to us. You were always cheerful and happy, making jokes. They are wonderful memories, every time we saw you we would make fun. When we were younger, you would often grab us by our ankles and then hold us upside down. It was always a lot of fun when you were around. Valentijn once got a pétanque set from France for his birthday from you and then we went to play pétanque against each other, which was very cool to do. You always told very enthusiastically about your camper and the nice holidays that you had, also with your dog Charlie. You were a very sweet uncle for us, and we would always have a lot of fun together. Dear uncle Jacques, we are going to miss you very much. Love, Sebastiaan and Valentijn

A Dear Jacques, One week ago you passed away very suddenly... It's still unbelievable. For Loes and for Nathalie, the children and me it was literally an enormous shock. I would like to tell the people who are here today a little bit more about you. Private life and work are closely linked in this story, because we are not only brothers, but we have also worked together at the same companies for a total of 19 years. You passed away in the environment you grew up in, and where you have lived your entire life. Dad, a down-to-earth man from Haarlem and mom, a ´bon vivant´ from Limburg, first did some sightseeing in the Netherlands. You were born in Groningen and little later I was born in Brabant. After having lived in Limburg for a few years, you ended up in Bloemendaal speaking with a so-called ‘soft g’ (Limburg accent). The softness of the accent (that you soon lost) also sketches your character. You were gentle, serious, sweet and always willing to help everyone. You were also smart and intelligent. You ranked one of the best in the Netherlands according to your primary school test. After your secondary education you wanted to go to university because you wanted to become a veterinarian. Mom’s pet shop probably contributed to that dream as well. The love for animals is characteristic in your life. When we were young, you went into the national park Kennemerduinen with your SLR camera to photograph deer and birds before dawn. And together with Loes you have always had cats and your fantastic dog friend Charlie that you loved so much. Unfortunately, you were drawn out of the veterinarian study and started a biology study. In the end, it turned out that the university was not for you and you went to the HTS (technical college) and started an internship at Mediasystemen. You were the one who told me that that company was also looking for a commercial person and that's how I ended up there myself. You have always been the technical one of us two and I the commercial guy. I bought an old car and you got it working. During all these years I have worked a lot with you - at Mediasystemen and later also at Mediasurface and Alterian. Many of our former colleagues have also ended up there. Literally a team that you could build on. During all the turbulent times we've gone through, that team was always solid. We have had really great years together. I have to tell a nice anecdote about those years and the period before you stopped smoking. It is about a stay with an English customer in Poole. You were working there and because of the strict non-smoking policy you thought you could secretly smoke a cigarette during a toilet visit. As a result, the fire alarm went off and all the staff had to go outside. Jacques was also standing outside, but he was quite remarkably the only one who was wet because the sprinkler system in the toilet was activated... Two years after the acquisition by Alterian, I left for another adventure. You stayed, and after a number of acquisitions, by SDL and now recently by RWS Group, you have been working there for 21 years. Within that much larger company you were also highly respected by your colleagues. Not only as a colleague, but especially as a person. That says a lot about who and how you were. The past week after your passing, I have been in contact with a lot of people and your colleagues have created a memorial page with heartwarming messages. I have deep respect for your employer. They have organized a meeting in the office for colleagues to share special memories about you. The fact that your colleagues think this way about you is because you were a beautiful person and you became what your passion was. For you, it was not work, it was your calling and you were very, very good at it. Your neighbors down the street in which you live have also become very good and dear friends. It is so touching to see that and you've earned it yourself as a human being. You were always there for everyone. For Loes, your family, your friends, your neighbors and your colleagues but also for strangers. Your last act in this world outlines the person you were. You help other people to get a meaningful life by donating your organs. Just like us, everyone who knows you is stunned by your passing and mourns to miss you, to miss your knowledge, to miss your support at work or in their private life, but also to miss your sense of humor and your warm personality. A common theme of many memories is still the coffee machine. That was your meeting point to speak to others and share experiences, but also to solve problems and get to know new colleagues. That's how I've always known you and that's how you've always been. The warm reactions of your previous and current colleagues speak volumes about you. Loes and you were so happy together. You enjoyed life with each other and have made many beautiful trips with your camper throughout Europe and especially to your beloved France. You were a real bon vivant and you were so well together. Sebastiaan and Valentijn, our two sons aged 15 and 14, were also shocked when we had to tell them the sad message of your passing. You were such a a funny uncle for them who always played with them. Also the last time on Valentijn's birthday this summer you were horsing around with them again. Nathalie, the children and I are going to miss you very much and of course we will support Loes to get through this. Just like all those lovely people who are here today will do it their way. I really hope they have good coffee upstairs. Goodbye dear Jacques... Ger

ac for me is more than a colleague. He is a good friend and big brother! I met Jac in 2018 when I joined SDL. We became very close at work, doing a lot of projects together and we just sit quite often next to each other. Not only from work, but also from private life, you feel how a caring person he is. Almost every Monday, he sent me greeting words, and asked me about my weekend(even I sometimes forgot my weekends) and how life is going with me and daughter. I still cannot believe he is gone since I was just talking with him on that Monday evening! His passing us is a big shock and brings great sadness. My deepest condolence to Loes and the whole family! Dear friend, Jac: I hope you have peace in the next world, and always keep your smile!
