He loved to play his trombone and has done so for more than 70 years. He actually started playing the trumpet, but made the switch when he was a little boy. Whenever you tried to make an appointment with Jack he always had to check his schedule because he always had a gig or band practice. Most of the week he would be out "working his chops" as he would say. And he tried to play his trombone whenever he had the chance. He even traveled the world to do so and went as far as China. He was very active in the big band world and has been active in multiple bands at the same time. Jack was also known for his humour (sometimes a tad crude) and always tried to make people laugh.

It was only in the last two years that I had the opportunity to meet him, when he covered for other trombonists. His humor and ability to show quite a different perspective will be missed by me. As well as his performances and control over the trombone. Learning about his passing was quite a shock to me, which only emphasizes the loss that his relatives and near friends shall experience. My deepest condolences to them.
