Iain Sommerville

Can’t say I’m not pissed at you for during on me.But it was a privilege to have known you and been your friend.I hope you’re catching plenty of fish up in the sky and you’ve got a spare fishing rod waiting for me in the next life when my time comes.

I was very sorry to hear of Iain's passing. He was always friendly and provided lots of expert support to many of us in the public health department over many years. Iain was a great listener and you got the impression that he was listening to understand the emotional challenges we were encountering with IT problems as well as the technical ones - and perhaps because of that he was usually able to provide an immediate solution or get back to us soon after to say whatever it was had been sorted it. We used to chat in the car park at the start or end of the day and Iain often had an entertaining comment on the day ahead or the day's activities. Best wishes to all of Iain's family and friends - he will be greatly missed.

Sincere condolences to all of Iain's loved ones. He was one of the most kind, considerate, patient and nicest people I have ever met. He never changed over the years from the old Strathclyde days and was always a helping hand if you ever needed him. Nothing was ever too much trouble. A true gentleman and a huge loss to this world. I still cant believe he is gone, RIP Iain, I will miss you.

I didn’t work directly with Iain but I’ve known him since I started with NHSL over 10 years ago. He would always go out of his way to help and only showed patience when I wasn’t understanding his clear instructions! It may seem a strange thing to share, but every day I parked my car beside his in Kirklands. If his car wasn’t there I wouldn’t take his space. I’m not looking forward to my first day back knowing he won’t be there. My thoughts are with his family.

I remember Iain as someone who was always willing to help, never got annoyed even when it was my fault. Who will be missed for his kindness and sense of humour.

Iain worked in the same office at NHSL over the last year. Its been lovely to pass the time of day with him. I was always greeted with a friendly hello as I passed his desk. I knew him previously from helping me with remote access working. He was always generous of his time and expertise. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

A true gentlemen, always happy to help as nothing was ever a bother to him. A great guy to be on call with as he never called you. He just got on with it. Such a shock to hear of Iain's passing. Iain you will be greatly missed amongst your colleagues and friends in Lanarkshire. Thoughts are with Lynne and family at this difficult time.

I was very saddened to hear that Iain had passed away and will miss him. Always got Iain the same way and was always willing to be of help if there was an issue. I also enjoyed his sense of humour as did many and shared many a laugh with him. A true gentleman that will be missed by all. My deepest condolences to his family. Rest in peace Iain.
