Horne, Heather Lee Hubley Age 63, Halifax, passed away peacefully with friends and family by her side in the QEII on October 7, 2016. Heather was born on June 18, 1953 in Halifax to parents Walter and Eileen Hubley (Vincent). She attended Queen Elizabeth High school and became a successful realtor with Royal LePage. She was also a dedicated volunteer with the IWK and Camp Hill Veterans’ hospitals. Heather loved the ocean, whether it was spending her childhood summers at her family cottage at Tantallon, collecting mermaids, or reading and getting some sun on the her deck in Bear Cove. Her home in Bear Cove was also the location of her famous lobster boils enjoyed by many family and friends. HHH, as she was often known, had a vibrant, outgoing personality and could often be seen being chauffeured around in her convertible. She had a great eye for fashion and loved getting good deals at one of the many secondhand clothing stores across the province. She also looked forward to her annual trips to the Dominican Republic with her best friend Bunny. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to support research in mitochondrial disorders at mitoaction.org. The family would like to thank the staff in section 7.4 at the QEII for making her last moments as peaceful as possible. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date with details to follow.

My condolences go out to the family. I am so sorry too hear of the lost of a dear loved one to this family. Dealing with this situation can be the hardest thing to face. God's word the bible gives heartfelt and true meaning for ones sleeping in death; Revelation 21: 3,4 says: 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” God also promises a hope for ones to have life again at John 5: 28,29a : Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out. My sincere condolences to you Jack and, Heather's family. Both Al and I respected and had such nice thoughts of Heather. I spoke with her often during our long standing career with Royal Lepage. A business real estate related call would always find us sharing our love for the Ocean and St. Margaret's Bay. I was thrilled for Heather when she shared with me the happiness and beautiful life she had found with Jack and Bear Cove. Like everyone....I'm going to miss her.

My memories of Heather go way back...to high school. As others have mentioned, Hub, as friends called her then, had a BIG personality, shy not being a part of it. Our Astura Hi-Y members could probably recall more than a few boisterous evenings and escapades. I too recall many happy times at the family cottage, and at the family home on Harvard Street. Heather was the first of my friends to marry, and the first friend for whom I stood as a bridesmaid. I can remember that wedding like it was yesterday. Heather was a devoted volunteer, and in high school, we were candy stripers at the IWK, and years later, at the gift shop in the Grace Maternity Hospital, with good friend Heather Mackenzie. Her wonderful boys, Ben and Edward, were students at Le Merchant whom I was lucky enough to teach. Although we lost touch, I was taken aback to read of her passing, but glad to know she had found the happiness she deserved. The description of the life she led fits with the memories I have of an exuberant, full-of -life young woman, always generous and kind, with a smile thwt always lit up the room. I know Bunny will miss her.
