It is with deepest sadness that we must convey the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Professor Sir Gordon Conway, a true pioneer in agricultural ecology and sustainable development.

I was so sad to learn this news nearly a year late but wanted to express my condolences to his family and the CEP. I was one of the early MSc students (1979-80) but stayed on joining a small group of PhD students on the top floor of 48 Prince's Gardens. I worked for Gordon as a research assistant on microcomputer models of malaria and their use in sharing information. These tools were very new at the time and well before the Internet and World Wide Web - but Gordon understood their potential. I hope his interdisciplinary approach and fundamental belief in the goodness of people is not forgotten. Rest in Peace.

I would like to express my condolences to the family of Prof Conway and the entire community of agriculture. He was a brilliant soul, willing to help and willing to connect people together. I first met him in 2013 at the House of Parliament and his support was a defining factor in my life trajectory. May his gentle soul rest in peace and may God give the family the fortitude to bear their loss. The agricultural industry has lost a giant.
