I was very sad hearing the news that Gene passed away. She was such a warmhearted, friendly woman. I will remember her , humming while watering the plants, always in a good mood, cheering me up. Condolences to her husband and son.

We are very sad to hear about the news of Gene Villorente's passing away after long illness. It is a big loss for EMBL Hamburg and us personally - Gene was a very pleasant person that helped making all colleagues feel welcome and comfortable. Her smile, her kindness but also her devotion to her family will always remain in our memories. We wish her husband and her son and the rest of her family a lot of strength for the future.

My wife Yuliya and I, both having been Gene's colleagues over several years, are very sad and sorry to hear the news of Gene passing. Our sincere condolences go to all her family. We will keep Gene in best memory as a wonderful warm-hearted person and very helpful colleague.

I was devastated by the news. She was such a wonderful, friendly and kind person. She always had time for a smile and a joke. I was looking forward to visiting her with my baby, as I know she loved children and I am so terribly sorry that she left us this soon. My sincere condolences to her family. She is going to be missed greatly.
