Fiona Smith

Reading through these memories there is such a common pattern. Fun, family, friendship, happiness, all these words I think of when I think of lovely Fiona. I first met Fiona as a neighbour when we both lived in Germany 31 years ago, the last of those years has seemed the longest knowing that Fiona is no longer here any more. The fun we had back then .... more often than not instigated by Fiona! We met up a few times over the years either when we visited her or she was here in Bristol. On some occasions it was just a coffee before she flew back home on the return flight with Ella. I wouldn’t have missed one of those meetings, we always had so much to chat about and, as usual, so much to laugh about. I remember sitting, watching her at her 60th birthday party and thinking what a fabulous time she was having surrounded by her wonderful family. Fiona always made every room light up but that night she was so happy and made the whole room glow. My condolences to all of Fiona’s family, especially Rich, Mike and John.

Fee you will always be in hearts and we will truly miss you forever. Do us a favour and look down on us all and keep us on the right path cause you know we we need it. Love you forever sweetie. You will be sorely missed this year and forever. We raised a glass for you yesterday. We will party in your honour when we can. Until then thinking of you and your family and us friends. Oh Fee. It feels like the longest year and the shortest year all at the same time. I have thought about you every day and I miss you millions. I have known Fee for almost 20years. We meet at our second hone the Byre and we have had the best times ever since. So many memories. Your laugh your smile and your company. Loved them all. All my love to Rich, Mike and their families and friends and of course John.

I had the pleasure of working alongside Fiona at the Byre Theatre prior to the University re-opening it. I have many fond memories of Fiona from that time and her incredible ability to lift the spirits of everyone in a room and being such good fun to be in the company of. Even in my first few days there she made me feel very welcome, I soon learnt that if you ever found Fiona and Mary (and any of the other Byre Girls for that matter) in a room together there was going to be laughter (and mischief) in abundance :) I cannot believe a year has passed so quickly and my thoughts still go out to her dear friends and family, a great loss for someone who brought so much happiness to other peoples lives.

How sad my sincere condolences to Fiona’s Family I never heard anything about this,, terrible news I arranged to meet with Fiona maybe 2-3 years ago as we had made contact through FB her mum and mine were very good friends wee had a bite n glass of wine remanicing days gone by had been so long since we had seen each other 45 odd years. Its been a year now since you were taken far too early.I first got to know you when i groomed your dog Robbie 20 years we always had a chat and a coffee and you became my friend. When you met John he then became friends with my husband Neil and golf buddy,o then we became four friends and hv had nights out dinners at each others houses wonderful food you cooked.I miss your happy smiley face and all the laughter we had you were a special person Fiona rip I miss you so much xxx

It still doesn't seem real.... A year since Fee was taken far too early. I can still hear that infectious laugh and see that cheeky smile when Fee and Mary (double trouble) were up to something. I was lucky enough to spend many fun nights and girls weekends away where we all laughed so much that our cheeks got sore, in the middle of it all was Fee. I know how much she meant to all of us but she was also so special to so many others. Fee had a very full social calendar, she kept up with an amazing number of friends and would be there in an instant if any of them needed her (even when sometimes they didn't know they needed her). She was so full of life, a joy to be around and always a fantastic hostess. To the Cava Queen, I will raise a glass for you tomorrow and remember so many happy times x
