Esther Kamhi
xx xx, xxxx - xx xx, xxxx
Esther Kamhi was a devoted wife and mother and loved and was loved by all who knew her: her family, her community and her friends. Born in 1937 in Tetouan in Morocco, she lived her youth in Melilla in Spain before coming to live in London in 1964. There she married Rabbi David Kamhi who sadly passed away in 1979 from which point with an inner strength and devotion she single handedly raised their 3 young children Moshe, Leon and Michelle. She loved being with her sisters, brothers and cousins reminiscing and reliving their happy youth in Melilla. Over 50 years, she was devoted to the David Ishag Synagogue, Neveh Shalom Community. She adored everyone there and they adored her. She liked nothing more than to have her grandchildren around her. We last managed to get all the grandchildren together in December in Jerusalem and Eilat. She was overjoyed. Nothing made her happier. We will miss her lots. Her sudden and untimely death is difficult to bear. May her soul be bound up in the bundle of eternal life. Amen

Moshe, Leon and Michelle, what can I really say. My heart goes out to all of you. Your mother really was a special person. From the first day we met (more than 50 years ago) she always made me feel comfortable. When we visited, we were always at home. When we met throughout the years, Hanna and I would always feel the closeness and love she gave us. We shall miss her. Please accept our sincere condolences that we send from the depths of our hearts. רפואה שלימה to Michelle, Miriam and Nessia. Love and kisses. From your cousins, Hanna and Raymond

Dear Moshe, Leon and Michelle We all absolutely adored your mum. It was an unconditional love. There are so many wonderful things one can write about your mother, however, no amount of space or time would be enough to enumerate them all and so we thought we would mention just one thing that we always felt in her presence. It was her incredible ability to make everyone feel special. The wonderful smile, the hug, the comment always to the point and so relevant to the person she was talking to. While we are devastated and we will miss your mum terribly, we also feel so honoured to have known her over so many years. She enriched all our lives in so many ways and she has left us with so many beautiful and happy memories which we will always treasure. Your mother together with your father were inextricably linked to the Neveh Shalom Community. Indeed, the community was founded in their house 50 years ago and without them our special community would not exist today. They were pillars of the Neveh Shalom Community to which we were all tethered and we now feel adrift. The community has brought such pleasure, happiness and comfort to so many people and so many families over the last 50 years and for this we all owe so much to your mother and your family. That in itself is an incredible legacy. Your parents’ memory will live through the continuing success of the community. We wish you well and wish you all a long and happy life. May you find peace and comfort in all the goodness and pleasure your mother brought to so many in this world. Yosef, Matilda and David
