Donald Richards

I was very grateful to Don for the kindness he showed to me in recent years in particular. Just after mum died he would invite me virtually every Sunday for Sunday dinner and I would spend a couple of hours with him and Jackie. I would confide in him on a regular basis and he would always take the time to listen to what I had to say and to give me sound advice. He also used to phone me up on a regular basis to see how I was, as he knew there would be times when I would be feeling lonely living on my own(apart from my cat Muffin) in my house without my parents and brother. When I used to show him my holiday photos he could never understand why I only took photos of the scenery. He would always photograph people and I used to enjoy looking at some of his photo albums to view saints past and present. He even had a photo of me just before I left for my mission! I really appreciated his many acts of kindness and I know that we will all miss him, but I'm sure he is enjoying meeting up again with and renewing his acquaintance with the saints he was close to in mortality. May the Lord bless and comfort his family and Jackie at this sad time with the knowledge that they will see him again someday. Don was a good man, a loyal member of the Lord's church and an example to us all.

I will always be greatful to Don for being my first Bishop and helping my mum and us kids feel welcome and comfortable attending church in Cottesmore Close. He would always stop and offer us lifts if he saw us walking the miles to and from church. I'm a bit ashamed to say I accidentally broke one of his ribs during a boxing lesson for the church Young Men. To be honest I couldn't get through his guard at head level (he was too good!) But the biggest thing I will remember is his smile and his humour. He is a truly great man with a great family and legacy. Thank you Don

I was really sad to hear of Don,s passing and have been thinking of the family at this time.....he was a loverly man and I liked being around him....the ward has been very blessed to have known him and I for one will miss seeing him st church....

I loved going to Don and auriel,s house in between Sunday meetings at southfields as I use to go to church on the bus from Whittlesey and we had fray bentos steak and kidney pies, my fave at the time....Don was the first person to take me to the temple in his car going through London then...and he was the Bishop who married me and Steve together...

Sending my deepest condolences to all of Don's family, friends, associates and neighbours. I remember Don being warm and welcoming. He was very down-to-earth. Don won my respect and admiration as a leader in the church community. I am sure he will be much missed here, but happily reunited with his departed family members on the other side of the veil.
