Diane Baxter

Baxter family, Di really was a special lady. A force to be reckoned with and we definitely tried not reckon with it. She has had a special place in my life for the past 20 years, being introduced to me first as Charlotte’s great friend and for the latter part as a judge at most of the shows I attend. I will miss our chats and laughs. Sending you all love and much strength.

Diane Baxter was a great friend with a wicked sense of humour. She was passionate about Showjumping especially in South Africa, many officials from her home country owe so much to her. I remember when she came to Dublin to be part of Jury I think in 2014. I don’t think any of use who were in Tryon at World Equestrian Games 2018 will ever forget chicken wraps! Di and I laughed about it many times after the event. To Di’s family my condolence on your loss. I know how she loved her grandchildren. Rest in peace dear Friend

Di... What a immeasurable loss! A stalwart of the South African Showjumping community, a mentor to some, friend to many, and woman of strong convictions. We will miss you enormously. Your sense of humor was second only to your passion for our sport. I will miss our little chats, laughs, and the guidance you provided. Di was definitely an Icon in the equestrian sport. She was a tough lady who stood by what she said. Di was a fountain of knowledge but always had time for a joke amongst the serious Business of little "Dobbins and Poppet". To the Baxter Family, I met Di over breakfast at the hotel we were both staying in at in Lausanne, our departure day after attending meetings at FEI headquarters. We were both excited, humbled, somewhat bemused at how we got there, how we were given those positions. As we introduced ourselves the link of friendship was immediate. We clicked. After breakfast and some last-minute discussions with the staff at FEI we set off to see the Olympic Museum. Di was the best person to share that experience with. Back in south Africa we kept in touch. She was an invaluable help to me with many issues I was facing in trying to train officials in our small Federation in Eswatini. Di was never too busy to take my calls, answer my questions, put actions on the to do list. Please accept my sincere condolences – she was a special lady and she will be sorely missed. My heart and prayers go out to the family, it is a very sad day to say goodbye to such a dynamic and energetic lady who always strived to be the best in everything she took on. Be sure our thoughts will be with you in the trying days to come. RIP my friend, you deserve it!!
