Chris Haworth

What can we say? It's just too unbelievable that he should have been taken away from you all so soon. Very cruel. Such a happy and positive man is now lost to the world, but because of his great character, he will never be forgotten. It was especially lovely to hear the stories about him today. Our hearts go out to you Marigold, Henny, Robbie and Josie and of course to all the grandchildren. A big virtual hug from all our family.xx

It is hard to express how much Chris meant to so many of us. I classed him as a mentor, someone I could turn to and who would listen and give honest advice. I also always loved his wicked sense of humour and his mischievous ability to find the one thing that would really pull your leg. I know these are such hard times for all the family and everyone who loved him, but I hope there’s some small comfort in how well he lived, how much he loved you all (he talked about his family a lot) and how much everyone thought of him. Sending lots of love to you all x

Dear Chris, big brother, I feel too sad to write and find it hard to accept that I won’t see you again. So many good memories - one thing that made me very proud was when you congratulated me on my sending bikes to Gambia. You who did so much charity work. You have touched so many people’s lives. Dear Chris I have repeatedly put off writing this; I still don't quite believe this is for real. What have you done, leaving us so soon ? I will sorely miss our walks and talks (always finishing in good humour, with a "score draw"); our bike rides (especially to Windsor, finished by a lunch in a favourite pub); our pints. So many fun times. So much unfinished business. For over 50 years, you always made me feel part of your wonderful family, even in my long hair/long coat days. You have left us in body; but you have not left us in spirit. So much thanks for your warm unerring friendship. Love Peter

I have a very early memory of Chris feeding us Haggis on Burn’s night and not being too impressed. How he laughed!! Latterly we had lots of political discussions always taking completely opposite views but always always with such good humour! You will be sorely missed by so so many people xx

How unbelievably tragic. I will remember Chris for his laugh, where he smiled with his eyes, his commitment in going along with a bunch of us ladies to watch Mama Mia at the cinema!!! His love for his dogs and how he enjoyed repeatedly telling the stories of what Hennie and Josie got up to at school! He will be incredibly missed by his family and friends and I am sending an abundance of love to the Haworth family xxxxx

Dear Chris. How could i forget that climb up the Inca trail? In heavy rain from somewhere you produced a pink umbrella which, through the murk i could see far ahead as you powered ahead like racing stallion leaving us donkeys struggling at the back, Chris, you were a character kind , full of fun, and you will always remain in our hearts

We have been fortunate to have Chris and Marigold as neighbours for the last 17 years. Chris was a great friend and we will miss his sense of humour, generosity and wise advice .Sending all our love to Marigold, Hennie, Robert & Josie xxx
